Athletics reassigned RHP Dylan Floro to minor league camp.
Floro was signed to a minor league contract with an invite to spring training near the end of February, but the 34-year-old didn’t do enough to make the MLB roster. It’s possible Floro could opt out of his deal, but if not, he’ll open the season with Triple-A Las Vegas.

The deal is now official. Floro struggled late last year following a trade to the Diamondbacks, but looked sharp in 51 appearances for the Nationals prior to the deal. The 34-year-old righty has a decent shot at making the Athletics’ season-opening relief mix, but he’s unlikely to pitch in high-leverage spots.

Floro has a locker at Athletics spring training, which is a good indication that he’s now a member of the team; however, we don’t yet know if it’s a major league deal or not. Floro had a poor stint in Arizona last year, pitching to a 9.37 ERA and 1.65 WHIP in 15 appearances after the trade deadline. However, he had a 2.06 ERA in 52 1/3 innings with the Nationals before the trade deadline and has been a solid reliever who should win a spot in the Athletics’ bullpen this season.

Floro was awful with the Diamondbacks with a 9.37 ERA and 1.65 WHIP after being acquired by Arizona at the deadline. The right-hander is now free to sign with a new team, but may need to wait until 2025 to find a new home.
