Mets released RHP Dylan Bundy.
This certainly feels like the end of the road for Bundy, who struggled to a 10.08 ERA, 1.96 WHIP and 21/7 K/BB ratio across 25 innings (six starts) this season for Triple-A Syracuse after signing a minor league deal with the Mets back in late March. The 30-year-old righty made 29 starts last year for the Twins before the club declined his $11 million club option for 2023.
Mets signed RHP Dylan Bundy to a minor league contract.
Bundy compiled a pedestrian 4.89 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 94/28 K/BB ratio across 140 innings (29 starts) last year for the Twins and drew almost zero interest this offseason on the free agent market. The 30-year-old righty provides the Mets with some emergency starting pitching depth and will likely open the regular season at Triple-A Syracuse.
Twins declined their $11 million club option on RHP Dylan Bundy for the 2023 season.
Bundy ate up plenty of innings last year for the Twins, but the results were rather uninspiring as he finished with a lackluster 4.89 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 94/28 K/BB ratio over 140 innings (29 starts). The 29-year-old right-hander will search for a new opportunity on the free agent market this offseason.
Dylan Bundy pitched well in a no-decision against the Tigers on Saturday night in Motown, giving up just two runs on five hits over his five innings of work.
The veteran right-hander struck out three on the night and did not walk a batter. The Tigers pushed a run across against him in the first inning on an RBI single by Javier Baez, then Eric Haase tagged him for a solo shot in the fourth. Bundy got 14 swings and misses on just 78 total pitches on the night -- seven of those coming on his slider -- while posting a CSW of 27 percent. The 29-year-old hurler finishes the 2022 campaign with an 8-8 record, 4.89 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 94/28 K/BB ratio over 140 innings in his 29 starts. He's set to hit free agency after this season.
