Drew Waters went 3-for-4 with a homer and a triple on Tuesday, as the Royals eked out a 4-3 victory over the Rockies in 11 innings.
Waters finally snapped a scoreless tie with his 408-foot (100.9 mph EV) solo shot off of Ryan Feltner to lead off the sixth inning. He then tripled in the ninth inning and scored on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Michael Massey. He has done a decent job so far for the Royals this season, slashing .273/.314/.455 with one homer, two RBI and one stolen base in his first 34 plate appearances. He remains irrelevant for fantasy purposes.
Royals recalled OF Drew Waters from Triple-A Omaha.
Waters gets the call to replace Mark Canha (hip) on Kansas City’s bench. The 26-year-old former top prospect has struggled to a .229/.306/.396 triple-slash line with 13 homers and 16 steals in 137 games at the highest level since 2022. He’s off to a nice start this season at Triple-A Omaha, batting .370 (10-for-27) with two homers and three steals in seven games. He’s unlikely to play enough to make an impact for fantasy purposes.
Royals optioned OF Drew Waters to Triple-A Omaha.
Waters will open the regular season back in the minors after batting .188 (6-for-32) in Cactus League play. His fate was sealed after Kansas City swung a trade last weekend to acquire veteran outfielder Mark Canha from the Brewers.
Royals optioned OF Drew Waters to Triple-A Omaha.
Waters is off the roster with MJ Melendez (ankle) returning from the injured list from a two-week absence. Waters is a former top prospect who has become organizational depth. It happens.
