Pomeranz tossed a scoreless inning on Friday for Triple-A Tacoma as he attempts to make it back to the big leagues for the first time since 2021. The 36-year-old lefty has been derailed by shoulder issues the last few years, but he looked sharp in spring training. It wouldn’t be a shock to see him get a chance with the Mariners at some point down the road.

Pomeranz and Hahn were in Mariners camp this spring as non-roster invitees. They’ve been given their release to pursue opportunities elsewhere after failing to make Seattle’s season-opening bullpen mix.

Pomeranz hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the 2021 seasons due to shoulder injuries, but he’ll attempt to keep his career going in Seattle. It’s unclear whether the 36-year-old veteran southpaw has anything left at this point, but the Mariners are going to roll the dice as a cheap, low-risk lottery ticket.

It’s been an interesting week for the 35-year-old southpaw. He signed a one-year MLB contract with the Giants on Friday, only to then be designated for assignment on Tuesday. He refused his outright assignment to Triple-A Sacramento and is now free to peddle his wares on the open market once again. Pomeranz hasn’t appeared in a big league game since the 2021 season.
