Dillon Peters has signed a one-year contract with the Yakult Swallows of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball.
Peters will earn $750,000 overseas this season in Japan. The 30-year-old left-hander made 22 appearances (four starts) last season for the Pirates, finishing with a respectable 4.58 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 26/17 K/BB ratio across 39 1/3 innings.

He spent time on the injured list with a lower back strain and left elbow inflammation. The southpaw has been a great organizational reliever and could sign with another club this offseason.

Peters was returned from his rehab assignment in order to be DFAd. The left-hander has been dealing with elbow inflammation, and now will be on the waiver wire instead of having a chance to return to Pittsburgh. He'll likely be competing for a job somewhere else in 2023.
