Big news out of Miami. Jeter has been with the Marlins since 2017 as a part of the new ownership group. The club has made impressive strides since then, with an abundance of young pitching talent, even making the expanded playoffs during the shortened 2020 campaign. However, in his statement Monday, the Hall of Famer said that "the vision for the future of the franchise is different than the one I signed up to lead." It's unclear what could be next for Jeter, but obviously we can start the speculation about a possible return to the Yankees in some capacity. The timing is obviously interesting as CBA negotiations continue. Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Jeter was apparently unhappy about the Marlins' budget and the ability to spend on more players. 

The Hall of Fame is expected to meet with their board members this week before making an official decision. Still, it's the logical call amid the COVID-19 pandemic. There are always gigantic crowds for the ceremonies in Cooperstown, New York and the same was expected this year with Derek Jeter and Larry Walker originally scheduled to be enshrined on the weekend of July 24-26. Now they'll be inducted along with whomever ends up getting voted in next January. Curt Schilling likely has the best shot.

We all know that Jeter isn\'t a great fantasy shortstop. However, he is a future hall-of-famer who has been a class act his entire career. He ends the year with a .256 average, four home runs, 49 RBIs, and ten stolen bases. Jeter will be forever remembered, and this goes without saying, but do not draft Jeter in 2015.

Whether you believe Derek Jeter is overrated or you are an irrational Yankees fan, there is no denying Jeter is a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer. The hits alone are incredibly impressive.
