Rodríguez went unclaimed on waivers after being designated for assignment earlier this week and will likely stick around as emergency organizational relief depth.

Rodríguez was summoned for Sunday’s series finale against the series finale agains the Marlins and wound up allowing a whopping eight runs over two innings of work in relief.

Rodríguez returns to the majors after being designated for assignment in July. The 31-year-old has been with two organizations this season and posted a 6.45 ERA and 1.59 WHIP with Triple-A Gwinnett. He will likely pitch in low-leverage situations while he is with the big league club.
