Dawel Lugo has signed with the Mariachis of Guadalajara of the Mexican League.
Lugo was outrighted off the Tigers' 40-man roster back in August. The 26-year-old holds a .236/.270/.358 batting line over over 400 plate appearances in the majors, all with Detroit. Odds are he'll resurface with a major league organization down the line.
Tigers sent INF Dawel Lugo outright to their alternate training site.
Lugo cleared waivers and is now off the Tigers' 40-man roster. The 25-year-old has struggled to find his footing at the plate during his brief major league career.
Tigers designated INF Dawel Lugo for assignment.
The move clears a spot for prospect Isaac Paredes on the active roster. Lugo, 25, posted a weak .652 OPS last season and was just 2-for-10 (.200) through nine games in a bench role so far this year.
Dawel Lugo is being held out of action in Tigers camp due to a tight back.
it's being called a precautionary measure for now. Lugo projects to open the 2020 regular season as a utility infielder for Detroit after batting just .245/.271/.381 with six home runs in 288 plate appearances last year.
