Giants signed OF Daniel Johnson to a minor league contract.
The 29-year-old outfielder had been languishing on the free agent market since electing free agency from the Orioles back in October. Johnson hit .259/.320/.448 with 21 homers, 76 RBI and 17 stolen bases in 118 games at Triple-A Norfolk in 2024. He’ll add extra outfield depth for the Giants.

Johnson appeared in one game and had only one at-bat for the Orioles in 2024. He previously appeared in the majors with Cleveland in the 2020 and 2021 seasons. Johnson hit .259/.320/.448 in 500 plate appearances with Triple-A Norfolk in 2024. He’s already playing in the Dominican Winter League this offseason. Johnson will likely sign a minor league deal with an invitation to spring training this winter.

Coby Mayo was optioned to Triple-A to make room for Johnson on the active roster. The Orioles already had space on the 40-man roster.
