White Sox signed RHP Dan Winkler to a minor league contract.
It's a good landing spot for Winkler with the White Sox' bullpen dealing with numerous injuries. The 32-year-old had been pitching at Triple-A in the Rangers organization, holding a 3.50 ERA and 26/13 K/BB ratio over 18 innings.
Dan Winkler has opted out of his contract with the Rangers and is now a free agent.
Both Winkler and Nick Tropeano made the decision to opt-out of their deals with the Rangers. The right-hander registered a 3.50 ERA and 26/13 K/BB ratio over 18 appearances with Triple-A Round Rock. He'll now have a chance to explore opportunities elsewhere -- MLB-related or not.

Levi Weaver of The Athletic adds that Winkler can make $1 million in the majors this season. The 31-year-old righty was released by the Cubs last August after posting an underwhelming 5.22 ERA, 1.56 WHIP and 40/30 K/BB ratio across 39 2/3 innings (47 appearances). He'll compete for a spot this spring in the Rangers' Opening Day bullpen.
Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News reports that the Rangers are close to signing Dan Winkler to a minor league contract.
The deal presumably would include a non-roster invite to spring training. Winkler, 32, has struggled the last few years after some initially success with the Braves.
