Martin was claimed off waivers last month from the Brewers and has yet to make an appearance for Baltimore. The procedural move opens up a spot on the club’s 40-man roster moving forward.

Martin was designated for assignment by the Brewers last week. He had not yet pitched in the MLB this season and has a 6.71 ERA and a 1.89 WHIP over 57 2/3 innings in his career. The Orioles immediately optioned him to Triple-A Norfolk where he will serve as organizational depth.

Faced with a 40-man roster crunch on Friday, it looks like Martin drew the short straw this time around. The 28-year-old hurler hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since 2022 and holds a 6.71 ERA and a 1.89 WHIP over 57 2/3 innings in his career at the game’s highest level.
