Rays manager Kevin Cash said that it's "highly likely" Reed will not appear in any exhibition games. It sounds like the lefty will probably start the year in extended spring training. Reed had thoracic outlet surgery last June.

He is a former top prospect who has struggled during his time in the majors. The 28-year-old lefty allowed five runs (four earned) on eight hits with a 7/6 K/BB ratio across 9 2/3 innings (12 appearances) with the Rays last season. There should be some interest on the open market.
