Chi Chi González has elected free agency.
The 31-year-old hurler will now be free to peddle his wares on the open market this winter. González appeared in just three games for the Marlins during the 2023 season, registering a 7.36 ERA, 2.18 WHIP and a 3/1 K/BB ratio over his 3 2/3 innings of work.
Marlins sent RHP Chi Chi Gonzalez outright to Triple-A Jacksonville.
Gonzalez passed through waivers after being designated for assignment when Matt Moore joined the Marlins roster. The 31-year-old will remain with the Marlins organization as emergency pitching depth.

The move makes room for on the roster for Matt Moore, who was claimed off waivers Tuesday. González has made three appearances in two stints with the Marlins, giving up three runs in 3 2/3 innings.

González returns to the Marlins active roster after passing through waivers earlier this season. The 31-year-old posted a 6.07 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, and 71/34 K/BB ratio across 121 2/3 innings with Triple-A Jacksonville and will likely come out of the bullpen in low-leverage situations.
