Cheslor Cuthbert clobbered a solo homer on Wednesday, lifting Nicaragua to a 2-0 win over the Mets.
Cuthbert, who didn't play professionally last season, made his last appearance in the majors during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season when he got into exactly one contest for the White Sox. The 30-year-old infielder took Mets ace Max Scherzer deep for a solo homer in the second inning and also stole a base later in the contest.

He'll report to Triple-A Syracuse. Cuthbert was released by the Reds after he hit just .203/.330/.338 with two homers for Louisville. He provides some versatility and organizational depth for the Mets for the remainder of 2021.

Cuthbert as slashing .203/.330/.338 with two homers over 21 games with the Reds' Triple-A affiliate. The 28-year-old had a decent rookie season with the Royals in 2016, but he's struggled to build on that and will likely just be upper-level depth wherever he winds up next.
