The deal, which was originally reported earlier this week, is now official. Anderson heads to the defending World Series champions as emergency pitching depth after posting a pedestrian 4.85 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 35/19 K/BB ratio across 52 innings (27 appearances, one start) earlier this year for the Red Sox, mostly in mop-up duty.

Anderson was designated for assignment on Sunday but cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A. However, the veteran declined that assignment and is expected to hit free agency where he hopes to latch on with another organization. He made 27 appearances for Boston with a 4.85 ERA over 52 innings with a 35/19 K/BB.
