2025 Player Outlook
After missing all of 2023, Mize returned in 2024 to post a 2-6 record with a 4.49 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 102.1 IP. The velo on his fastball was up compared to 2021 and 2022, and his spin rates were up across the board. His splitter is a ground ball machine, and his hamstring injury came at an unfortunate time last year has he had a 3.41 ERA across his final six starts before hitting the shelf. While he commands the strike zone well, he is not a make-you-miss type pitcher, nor does he generate a ton of swings out of the strike zone. He's a pitch-to-contact guy who will give fantasy managers an ERA in the mid-4s with a 1.30+ WHIP. AL-only target.

Casey Mize yielded one run over seven innings on Saturday in a win over the Royals.
Casey Mize wasn’t at his best in a losing effort against the Twins on Sunday afternoon, surrendering four runs on seven hits across 5 2/3 innings of work.
The 27-year-old right-hander struck out three on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. He struggled to keep the ball in the yard on Sunday as Byron Buxton and Edouard Julien each smacked solo homers off of him in the ballgame. Mize generated eight swings and misses on 74 pitches on the afternoon — half of those on his splitter — while registering a CSW of 27 percent. He’ll look to get back on track as he carries a 2.60 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and a 15/6 K/BB ratio (17 1/3 innings) into Friday’s divisional showdown against the Royals.
Casey Mize limited the Yankees to one run over six innings in a victory Monday.
Mize gave up a bunch of flyballs today, but being that he was pitching on a 38-degree day at Comerica Park, it didn’t hurt him at all. He wound up allowing four hits, walking three and striking out six on his way to allowing one run. Opposing starter Carlos Rodón allowed four hits, walked three and struck out eight while recording the same number of outs, yet he allowed six runs. Mike will take a 2-0 record and a 0.77 ERA into a start against the Twins this weekend.
Casey Mize tossed 5 2/3 shutout innings with six strikeouts in a win over the Mariners on Tuesday.
Mize picked up where he left off after a great spring training with one of the best starts of his career. He worked out of trouble in the first inning, stranding two baserunners in scoring position with a strikeout to escape the jam. He didn’t allow another batter to reach until walking two in the sixth. The 27-year-old right-hander induced an impressive 15 swinging strikes on 82 pitches to collect six strikeouts. Mize will take on the Yankees in Detroit on Monday.
