Rays have interest in signing Carl Crawford.

The Dodgers officially designated Crawford for assignment back on June 5 and did not find anyone willing to take the 34-year-old outfielder. They released him on June 13th and ended up eating the remaining $35 million on his contract. The veteran was batting just .185/.230/.235 across 87 plate appearances this season. If the Rays can grab him for league minimum, why not take a shot.

Carl Crawford has been officially released by the Dodgers.

Crawford is still owed a boatload of money but the Dodgers clearly didn't care very much as he was given his official pink slips on Monday. After hitting just .265 in 69 games last season, he followed that up with a .185 average this year. Crawford is likely finished at the major league level.

Carl Crawford has been designated for assignment.

After starting five straight games and having one measly hit in 14 at bats to show for it, the Dodgers have designated Crawford for assignment. Crawford's contract runs out at the end of next season, and according to sportrac he is owed over 43 million dollars between this year and next year. Crawford hit just .185 with the Dodgers this season, and did not have a home run in 87 plate appearances. It'll be interesting to see where Crawford ends up, but with such a humongous salary it's hard to see any team taking a gamble on him.

Carl Crawford is out of the Dodgers lineup on Saturday.

Crawford will sit again tonight in favor of Howie Kendrick in left field. The veteran has not played well all season, and rarely starts in a crowded Dodgers outfield. He has reached a point in his career where he offers nothing in fantasy.
