Harper had a 107-mph flyout and a 102-mph double today, but it was his weak, 70-mph fly to shallow center that made the difference. Dropping in just between Masyn Winn and Victor Scott II, it drove in the go-ahead run in the 2-1 game. Harper had gone hitless in four of his previous five games coming into this one.

It’s the first three-hit game of the year for Harper, who entered the night in an 11-for-63 slump. His 110.6-mph homer was the hardest-hit ball of the game, and his 107.5-mph lineout in the sixth was second on the list.

Harper is 11-for-63 with one homer in his last 16 games, leaving him at a modest .229/.349/.402 overall. His exit velocity numbers are the same as always, and tonight aside, he’s not striking out any more than usual. There wouldn’t seem to be any reason for concern here.

Harper has played all 33 games this season for the Phillies, but he’s been struggling at the dish, hitting .228 (28-for-123) with five homers and six steals. The 32-year-old fantasy star has been going through it of late, batting .179 (10-for-56) with just one homer over his last 15 contests. It’s only a matter of time before he reverts to form, but it’s definitely been a grind for Harper over the past few weeks.
