Schlitter signed a minor-league contract with the Athletics, which includes an invitation to spring training.

Schlitter cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Schlitter was designated for assignment by the Athletics on Monday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
