Reds signed LHP Brent Suter to a one-year, $2.25 million contract.
The deal also includes a $3 million option for the 2026 season. The Reds chose to go this route instead of simply exercising their $3.5 million option on the left-hander for the 2025 season. Suter was one of the most reliable options in the team’s bullpen during the 2024 campaign, compiling a 3.15 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 50/12 K/BB ratio over 65 2/3 innings while recording a pair of saves.
Brent Suter allowed one run over 3 1/3 innings on Wednesday against the Astros to record his first save of the year.
Suter came on to record the final out of the sixth inning and needed just 45 pitches (33 strikes) to go the distance over the final three frames to record a rare three-plus inning save.
Reds activated LHP Brent Suter off the 10-day injured list.
Suter is back for the final month after missing a little over six weeks with his shoulder sprain. The southpaw will be a multi-inning option for the Reds down the stretch.
Brent Suter (shoulder) will begin a minor league rehab assignment on Thursday with Triple-A Louisville.
Suter will only require a handful of minor league outings before returning to Cincinnati’s bullpen after hitting the injured list back in late July with a partial tear of the teres major muscle in his left shoulder.
