Beachy signed a minor-league contract with San Francisco on Saturday, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.

Beachy has pitched parts of five seasons in the big leagues, posting an ERA of 3.36 in 48 starts. Just two of those starts have come since 2013, however, and none have come since 2015. Elbow issues kept him out of affiliated baseball altogether the last two seasons, though he did appear briefly for the New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League last year, allowing five earned runs in 12.2 innings. It would be a surprise if the 32-year-old makes an impact at the major-league level this season, but his past success means there are certainly worse players for the Giants to take a shot on.

Brandon Beachy is still rehabbing his elbow in Arizona.

After being in the mix for the fifth starting spot for the Dodgers in Spring Training, Beachy has had elbow problems and they have only seemed to get worse. Beachy left the Dodgers spring training complex, and it seems as though he's had another setback. With a history of elbow troubles, this is very bad news for the Dodgers pitcher.

Dodgers reassigned IF/OF Elian Herrera, RHP Brandon Beachy and outfielder Rico Noel to minor league camp

All players listed should consider it a good sign that they made it this far into camp, as being in the final 40 makes them a play if someone on the big league roster was to go down during the season. Having said this, consider none of them legitimate fantasy options going forward.

Brandon Beachy is throwing off mound Saturday for the first time since he was sidelined by elbow soreness.

This is not a pitcher you want to trust when you are drafting this season. Avoid him unless and until he proves to be healthy. Remember, he has had TWO Tommy John surgeries in his career.
