Shipley re-signed last month with the Mariners, but didn’t end up pitching this spring. The 32-year-old former prospect hasn’t pitched at all since the 2022 season, presumably due to injury.

Shipley hasn’t appeared in the majors since the 2018 season when he made three relief appearances for the Diamondbacks. The 31-year-old was a notable pitching prospect last decade, but didn’t end up panning out. He didn’t pitch last year for the Mariners in the minor leagues, but is back for another stint as extra organizational depth.

Shipley hasn't appeared in the majors since the 2018 campaign. The 31-year-old former top prospect compiled a solid 3.79 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 58/36 K/BB ratio across 54 2/3 innings (47 appearances) last year for Triple-A Tacoma. He's merely emergency organizational relief depth at this stage of his career.

Shipley, a former top prospect in the Diamondbacks' system, split the 2021 campaign between Triple-A Louisville in the Reds' organization and the Acereros de Monclova in the Mexican League. The 30-year-old righty last appeared in the big leagues back in 2018 with Arizona. He'll bolster the Mariners' organizational pitching depth at Triple-A Tacoma to open up the 2022 season.
