Royals released RHP Brad Peacock.
Peacock signed a minor league contract with the Royals back in March and has been cut loose after posting a strong 1.64 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 45/16 K/BB ratio across 38 1/3 innings (19 appearances) this season at Triple-A Omaha. The 34-year-old righty reliever, who has made 183 career appearances in the majors, should be able to find another opportunity in short order.
Royals reassigned RHPS Brad Peacock, Arodys Vizcaino, Colten Brewer, Jose Cuas; INFs Gabriel Cancel, Iván Castillo, Clay Dungan and Vinnie Pasquantino; and OFs Dairon Blanco, Brewer Hicken and Jacoby Jones to minor league camp.
The latest batch of cuts from Royals' camp includes several prominent relievers including Peacock, Vizcaino and Brewer. They'll open the regular season as extra relief depth at Triple-A Omaha and could be up at some point later this year.
Royals signed RHP Brad Peacock to a minor league contract.
The 34-year-old tossed just 5 1/3 innings for the Red Sox last season and allowed nine earned runs. Peacock was eligible to sign this offseason because he was not on a major league team’s 40-man roster at seasons end. The veteran reliever has been held back in his career by neck and shoulder injuries, but carries a career 3.48 ERA.
