Austin Brice announced his retirement from baseball on Wednesday.
Brice, 32, spent time in the majors every year from 2016-22 and enjoyed his most success in 2019, when he had a 3.43 ERA in 44 2/3 innings out of the Marlins pen. Overall, he had a 5.12 ERA in 144 appearances, all but one coming in relief.

Brice latches on with Minnesota as emergency organizational relief depth. The 31-year-old righty last appeared in the majors during the 2022 season when he made four appearances for the Pirates.

Brice spent the 2023 campaign at Triple-A for the Diamondbacks and Twins, posting a 6.92 ERA and 1.71 WHIP across 37 appearances. The 31-year-old hasn’t pitched in the majors since 2022 but he will give the Phillies relief depth in the upper minors.

Brice made four relief appearances last year for the Pirates and compiled a lackluster 5.56 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 53/18 K/BB ratio across 43 2/3 innings (37 appearances, two starts) for Triple-A Indianapolis. The 30-year-old will give the Twins additional relief depth in the upper minors.
