Ariel Jurado has signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Samsung Lions in the Korea Baseball Organization.
The 28-year-old hurler has spent the previous two seasons in Korea as well with the Kiwoom Heroes, most recently posting a 3.36 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and a 169/32 K/BB ratio across 190 1/3 innings in his 30 starts during the 2024 season. Jurado hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the pandemic-truncated 2020 campaign.

Jurado will take home $1.2 million in 2024, and can earn an additional $100,000 through performance-based incentives. The 27-year-old righty, who hasn’t pitched in the big leagues since the pandemic-truncated 2020 campaign, posted a 2.65 ERA, 1.12 WHOP and 147/41 K/BB ratio across 183 2/3 innings (30 starts) this past season in his Korean debut.

Jurado, 26, gets $850,000 from the Heroes, and can make another $150,000 in incentives. The right-hander registered a 3.54 ERA over 53 1/3 innings with Triple-A St. Paul last season after missing all of 2021 while recovering from Tommy John surgery.

Jurado last appeared in the majors with the Mets during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season, making just one relief appearance. The 26-year-old righty holds a lackluster 5.97 ERA, 1.53 WHIP and 105/54 K/BB ratio across 181 innings (47 appearances, 27 starts) in the majors since 2018. He'll provide the Twins with some organizational pitching depth.
