RHP Anthony Swarzak cleared outright waivers and has elected free agency.
The right-hander was desingated for assignment on July 17 by the Royals, but no team decided to make a claim on the 35-year-old. Swarzak has allowed right runs over 7 2/3 innings this season.

Swarzak is removed from the roster to make room for Wade Davis. He struggled with the Royals; giving up eight runs on 13 hits over 7 2/3 innings (9.36 ERA). It's hard to imagine there'll be interest in Swarzak right now.

Swarzak had a rough few weeks with the Diamondbacks earlier this season but rebounded with a nice showing at Omaha. The veteran reliever figures to be used in low-leverage situations.
