Blue Jays placed INF Andrés Giménez on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to May 8, with a right quad strain.
The 26-year-old second baseman hadn’t played since leaving Wednesday’s game against the Angels due to tightness in his right quad. Since the team was playing it day-to-day, they’re hopeful that he won’t require much longer than a minimum stint on the injured list. Ernie Clement is starting in his place at second base once again on Friday night and should continue to see increased action there while Giménez is shelved.

The 26-year-old second baseman was pulled from Wednesday’s game due to tightness in his right quad. The Jays are still awaiting his MRI results, but Giménez said Thursday that he’s feeling much improved. He’s considered day-to-day. Ernie Clement will start at second base on Thursday evening and will bat eighth against Jose Soriano and the Angels in Los Angeles.

Giménez appeared to suffer some sort of leg injury while legging out a bunt hit in the seventh inning. He managed to remain in the contest initially, but was replaced by Addison Barger at second base in the bottom of the frame. There should be an update on his status following the contest.
