Alex Verdugo is absent from Atlanta’s lineup Wednesday for the first time since being called up last week.
The Braves have Eli White in left field and Michael Harris II leading off against the Cardinals. Verdugo has hit .273/.304/.409 with four runs scored in five games as the Braves’ leadoff man.
Alex Verdugo went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two runs scored in a 4-3 win Saturday over the Twins.
Braves recalled OF Alex Verdugo from Triple-A Gwinnett.
Verdugo is up, Bryan De La Cruz is down. The 28-year-old will have a chance to make his debut with Atlanta after signing with the team late in the spring, and he hit .207/.303/.448 with the Stripers over 33 plate appearances. Verdugo would be worth a look in NL-only formats, but can be left alone in most leagues.
Brave signed OF Alex Verdugo to a one-year, $1.5 million contract and optioned him to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Normally Verdugo wouldn’t be eligible to begin the season in the minors, but his contract stipulates Atlanta can send the 28-year-old to Triple-A. He likely won’t be there for long, as Verdugo should be up with the big-league club as an option against right-handed pitching shortly.
