Alex Rodriguez will not attempt a comeback in 2017.

A-Rod was pretty well done in 2015 but came back for another year with the Yankees in 2016 anyway, well at least part of the year. With his defense diminished to the point where he's a liability, and his bat no longer carrying the thump or contact he used to, there is really no one that would be interested in bringing the former slugger onboard anyway. He has been very good on the Fox Sports broadcasts in the post-season and has previously said he has interest in potentially coaching so those options should be opened to the now convincingly retired A-Rod.

Alex Rodriguez told reporters he hopes he will be remembered as someone 'who worked hard.'

Rodriguez was an exceptional talent, but his use of performance-enhancing substances will always loom large in the minds of those who witnessed him play. From a statistical standpoint, he had an illustrious career, but it's going to be hard for many to forget the fact that he used steroids. For his career, he hit .295 with 696 home runs, 2,086 RBI and 329 stolen bases.

Alex Rodriguez has told friends that he is done as a player.

At one point it was rumored the Marlins were kicking the tires on A-Rod, and he still could be added to a contender as a solid bat down the stretch. Despite the controversy, he will go down as one of the greatest to play, even as polarizing a figure as he has become.

A spokesmen for Alex Rodriguez says he will not be playing baseball for another team this season.

The talk of him heading to the Marlins and South Beach has only heated up with Giancarlo Stanton being done for the season with a groin injury. However that talk is now getting quashed by a member of the A-Rod team in his publicist. There are a few reasons why it was an odd story line to begin with as Rodriguez is set to head into a behind the scenes role with the Yankees. Firstly, his contract would be reworked if he went to another team, thereby changing the amount, ($21 million and change) that he's owed for the rest of this year and next. And secondly, he'd likely be playing first base for the Fish, if he heads there, which is a position he's never played before in his 22-year career. Miami may have to look elsewhere for an offensive boost.
