McCreery cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday.
McCreery was designated for assignment earlier in the week but will remain in the organization after going unclaimed on waivers. The 26-year-old has a 3.79 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 43:25 K:BB over 40.1 innings between Double-A and Triple-A this season.
McCreery was designated for assignment by the Angels on Tuesday, Maria Torres of the Los Angeles Times reports.
McCreery was promoted to the majors Monday, though he failed to see any action before being booted from the 40-man roster. JC Ramirez (elbow) was reinstated from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.
McCreery was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday.
McCreery was dealt to the Angels from the Dodgers in mid-July, and he'll get a chance with his new big-league club after allowing one run over 4.2 innings at Triple-A Salt Lake. He last appeared in the majors during the 2018 season with Atlanta, though his stint lasted just one contest.
McCreery was traded across town from the Dodgers to the Angels on Friday along with Josh Thole in exchange for cash considerations.
McCreery owns a mediocre 4.04 ERA in 35.2 innings of relief across the two highest levels of the minors this season. The trade opens up a spot on the Dodgers' 40-man roster for A.J. Pollock (elbow), who returns from the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move.
