Aaron Slegers has retired from professional baseball.
Slegers steps away from the game after 10 seasons, including five years in the majors. The towering 6-foot-10 right-hander finishes with a 5.46 ERA, 1.36 QHIP and 59/28 K/BB ratio across 89 innings (49 appearances, six starts). The 30-year-old reliever had stints with the Twins, Rays and Angels dating back to 2017.
Rays signed RHP Aaron Slegers to a two-year minor league contract.
The deal includes an invite to major league spring training in 2022. Slegers, who pitched for the Rays in 2019-2020, posted a rough 6.97 ERA and 1.87 WHIP over 31 innings with the Angels this season. The 28-year-old will provide some bullpen depth moving forward.
