Cowboys vs Giants picks & predictions, plus a bonus promo code for MNF

The Dallas Cowboys square off with their long-time NFC East rivals on Monday Night Football from the Meadowlands. With a win, the Giants would move to 3-0 for the first time since 2009 and keep pace with the undefeated Eagles. The Cowboys on the other hand would be thrilled to escape with a third consecutive win with Cooper Rush as quarterback.

Now let’s get back to our picks and preview.
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants odds and latest lines
The game total currently sits at 38.5, the second-lowest over/under in Week 3. Both teams are expected to lean heavily on their running backs. While the Cowboys have owned the Giants in recent years - they’ve won 9 of their past 10 matchups against their division rivals - both of these teams have changed drastically in 2022.
Here are how oddsmakers currently have priced tonight’s game at Caesars Sportsbook:
- Spread:
- Dallas: +1.0 (-110)
- New York: -1.0 (-110)
- Money line:
- Dallas (-105)
- New York: (-115)
- Total:
- Over 38.5 (-110)
- Under 38.5 (-110)
This is a virtual pick’em. But are bettors being slow to believe in the Giants? In Week 2, everyone was quick to fade the Rush-led Cowboys. Now, just one week later, everyone wants to back the backup QB.
Let’s take a look at some key matchups and see where there might be betting value.
12 Angry Men: Saquon Barkley and the New York Giants defense
This game is going to be decided by which defense can force the opposing offense into committing the most mistakes. That might be easier said than done, as both offenses are expected to follow extremely conservative gameplans.
The Giants are 2-0 despite having no passing attack to speak of. Daniel Jones threw for 188 yards in New York’s Week 1 upset of the Titans and followed that up with an anemic 176-yards performance last week against the Panthers. The good news is that he has only turned the ball over once - a surprising development in light of his 41 turnovers in 40 career games.
Enter All-Universe running back Saquon Barkley. The frontrunner for Comeback Player of the Year, Barkley gashed Tennessee for 194 yards of total offense. While his Week 2 stat line underwhelmed in comparison, he had 24 touches and remained the focal point of the offense. He will be New York’s workhorse on Monday Night Football.
After Barkley, it’s hard to get excited about much on the Giants offense. WR Sterling Shepard was targeted 10 times against Carolina, but was hilariously inefficient. He finished with 6 catches for 34 yards. Kenny Golladay is rumored to have been worked back into the mix after seeing just 2 snaps in Week 2, so while I expect Shepard to see a high volume of targets, I’m not interested in his prop of 48.5 receiving yards at Caesars Sportsbook.
Cowboys expected to be competitive for all the wrong reasons
I’m going to say this early and often: Cooper Rush is in for a long night.
Michael Gallup was expected to return tonight, but was surprisingly ruled out Monday afternoon. TE Dalton Schultz is banged up and listed as questionable, meaning Dallas will again be thin on the playmaking front.
Giants defensive coordinator Wink Martindale has implemented a blitz-heavy style that has given quarterbacks fits through two games. The Giants are only allowing 197.5 passing yards/game and a paltry 54.8% completion rate, good for second-best in the NFL. While this New York unit can’t be considered “elite,” its strengths align with the Dallas offense’s weaknesses.
The opposite can be said regarding the Cowboys rushing attack. The Giants have allowed 119.5 yards/game on the ground and a below-average 4.9 yards/attempt. From a receiving standpoint, the Giants have allowed the most receiving TDs to RBs in the league and the eighth-most receiving yards to the position.
While RB Ezekiel Elliott “is due,” he also looks quite washed at this stage of his career. Backfield mate Tony Pollard continues to eat into Zeke’s workload - the “backup” finished Week 2 with 13 touches (9 rushing attempts, 7 targets, 4 receptions) and 98 total yards. Give me the 25-year-old Pollard over Elliott tonight.
Cowboys vs. Giants picks and best bets at Caesars Sportsbook
Fans of old-school, hard-nosed football are going to love this game tonight. Expect run-heavy schemes, lots of dink-and-dunk passing and a healthy dose of defensive highlights on third-and-longs.
Here’s how this translates to our Cowboys vs. Giants picks and best bets for Monday Night Football:
- Tony Pollard over 2.5 receptions (-139)
- Cooper Rush over 0.5 interceptions (-137)
- Saquon Barkley over 76.5 rushing yards (-111)
- Brett Maher over 1.5 made FGs (+100)
- Graham Gano over 1.5 made FGs (-123)

Player News
Dolphins signed No. 13 overall pick DT Kenneth Grant to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Grant will sign his contract today. The former Michigan defensive tackle is expected to fill a major void left by Christian Wilkins, who left for the Raiders in the 2024 offseason. Grant totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and seven TFLs in his final season at Michigan and excelled at stopping the run while also generating 27 pressures in his final season, per PFF.
Beat reporter John Hendrix reports that free agent WR Donovan Peoples-Jones is among the 16 players that the Saints will host for their rookie minicamp.
Peoples-Jones last played regular season snaps with the Lions back in 2023, when he caught 13-of-24 targets for 155 yards. He is highly unlikely to return to fantasy relevance at this point but could perhaps sign on as a special teams contributor.
Titans signed fourth-round pick WR Elic Ayomanor to a four-year contract.
Ayomanor will now begin learning behind Calvin Ridley. Although Ayomanor is unlikely to find a meaningful role in year one, dynasty managers should note his status as training camp gets underway this summer. The former Stanford receiver flashed big-play ability in his two college seasons.
Buccaneers signed seventh-round pick WR Tez Johnson to a four-year contract.
Johnson will serve as a rotational deep-threat option for Baker Mayfield. His thin frame (5'10/154) simply does not lend itself to the repeated hits one incurs in a full-time role. Johnson did earn 100-plus targets in his two seasons at Oregon, though. His big-play style make him a better fit in best ball for now, pending any major on-field breakthroughs.
Giants waived DT Casey Rogers.
Rogers was a 2024 undrafted free agent and logged 33 defensive snaps for the Giants in his rookie season. He is credited with zero tackles and/or sacks. He may find his way onto another roster as a practice squad option.
Vikings signed third-round pick WR Tai Felton to a four-year contract.
Felton is quietly in play to challenge Vikings No. 3 WR Jalen Nailor in training camp. Nailor (5'11/190) caught 28-of-42 targets for 414 yards and six touchdowns in his first season as a starter last year, with the latter category buoying his fantasy productivity. Felton (6'1/183), meanwhile, caught 96-of-143 targets for 1,119 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 2.32 yards per route run in his final college season. Fantasy managers should monitor Felton’s training camp reports this summer, as he could have a matchup-based WR5 role if everything falls into place.
