Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2025 DFS Picks This Week: Predictions, Values & Projections

Published: Apr 22, 2025
Back-to-back weeks with the winner in the article, let’s see if we can keep the streak going! If we don’t however, we get a pass due to the team event aspect. The Zurich Classic of New Orleans is more of a fun event than the typical competitive events we’ve had of late. While competition obviously is still happening, this is a unique event that should give us a more fun style of professional golf.
Let’s dive in!
Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2025: Daily Fantasy Golf Picks & Projections
As a team event, we take a different approach to DFS than normal, much like the pro’s take a different approach to this event as well. During this team event, the 1st and 3rd rounds are best-ball, which is where the lowest score from the team is counted as the team score for the hole. The 2nd and final rounds of the event, alternate shot will be used and the team’s score on the hole will be what is counted.
For DFS purposes, this event is currently only supported by certain venues, so this week we will focus on DraftKings. Their rules specify that you cannot draft both players from a team, and that each golfer in a pairing receives the same score and statistics for the event. As a result, when doing the player breakdowns, we must focus more heavily on the overall team skill as opposed to individual players.
TPC Louisiana: Course Breakdown This Week
TPC Louisiana is yet another Pete Dye design, much like what we got last week at Harbour Town. Unlike Harbour Town, this is a 7,400 yard course, which often plays much softer and slower than typical Pete Dye designs. While there are many historical indicators here, most of them end up being largely irrelevant as the team format completely changes how the game is played. What we do know for a fact is that we end up getting a lot of drivers and long irons, and that it’s an easy overall event that is more meant for fun than anything else.
That being said, TPC Louisiana favors driving distance more than the usual tournament, while putting is yet again a near non-factor. Additionally, the approach side of things is far less important as well, given you get multiple shots per team, making it hard to truly gain strokes with the irons.
While we do have these stats to back up certain calls, ultimately, the vibes of the teams and this event ultimately matter more. We've seen everything from World No. 1's to teams of comparatively unknowns win here, proving that this event is truly a crapshoot. Let's try to find some diamonds!
Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2025 Field: Golf DFS
Given the team aspect of this event, we focus more heavily on pairings than the individual field. Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry return to defend their win in 2024, and we see multiple other teams who have competed here and played well before. Some of the more notable pairings include Collin Morikawa who is playing with fellow NorCal native Kurt Kitayama, twin brothers Nicolai and Rasmus Hojgaard, Aaron Rai and Sahith Theegala, and notable goof-balls Joel Dahman and Harry Higgs. This event will likely be high scoring, and will likely call for more diversification than other events given the team scoring factor.

GOLF DFS PICKS THIS WEEK: Top Tier
Shane Lowry + Rory McIlroy ($12,400)
Defending champs who are best friends, and both just had strong performances at the Masters? What’s not to love here. Rory and Shane are likely to be the highest rostered players this week, and for good reason.
Keith Mitchell + J.T. Poston ($10,000)
Both guys have had success here on separate teams, with Poston having a T22nd finish and Mitchell having a 6th place and T4th place. This is one of the more fun teams at the high end, so I’ll be rooting for them here. Plus, they’re neighbors! Imagine the stories they’ll be able to tell at the block party!
Robert MacIntyre + Thomas Detry ($10,300)
Detry and MacIntyre are returning after teaming up in 2024, where they played their way to a T8th finish. They struggled in round 2, but had the 2nd lowest score on day one and 4th lowest on day 3. This team has the fire power and recent form to compete and I think they can find their way into the top 10 again.
GOLF DFS PICKS THIS WEEK: MID-TIER
Andrew Novak + Ben Griffin ($9,700)
Novak is coming off his runner up finish to Justin Thomas at the RBC Heritage, Griffin has multiple T4th finishes this year so these guys clearly have what it takes. Novak finished T23rd here last year with Davis Thompson, and while Griffin has never made the cut here, it’s clear these guys will be fun to watch.
Wyndham Clark + Taylor Moore ($9,500)
Both of these guys have had a ton of success with their partners here, with Clark having finishes of T17th, T10th, and 3rd overall in 2023, and Moore having multiple T4th finishes under his belt in 2022 and 2023. Why did they team together? I have no idea, but the talent is clearly there for these guys in this type of event.
Sahith Theegala + Aaron Rai ($9,200)
This one mostly boils down to me just simply liking both guys. Both from Indian heritage, these guys have shown their talent as both own top 30 rankings in the OWGR. Both will be a ton of fun to watch, and root for.
GOLF DFS PICKS THIS WEEK: VALUE TIER
Kevin Kisner + Greyson Sigg ($6,100)
Yet another set of neighbors in the field! Kisner has one of the best personalities on tour, and should be an absolute hoot to have as a teammate for Sigg. Kiz isn’t the golfer he once was, and is a long way from the player who finished as high as 2nd place overall here, but he’s still gotta be a ton of fun (can you tell why I’m picking who I am this week). Sigg is no slouch either, with a T8th finish here last year.
Alejandro Tosti + Joe Highsmith ($8,200)
Tosti is playing some solid golf of late, coming off a T2nd finish in Puntacana, a T12th at Valero, and a T5th in Houston. Highsmith has struggled a bit since his win at the Cognizant Classic, but these guys are fun to root for, feisty, and have the game to power through here.
Erik Van Rooyen + Christiaan Bezuidenhout ($7,700)
South Africans unite! Van Rooyen and Bezuidenhout both have a ton of game and potential, and they do actually line up well for this course. Power and accuracy go a long way here (pun intended) so I have some faith in these guys to surprise.
