Genesis Invitational 2025 DFS Picks This Week: Predictions, Values & Projections

Published: Feb 12, 2025
For the 2nd time in the last month, we get to see Torrey Pines in action. Due to the devastating fires in the Los Angeles area, the 2025 Genesis Invitational has been moved to Torrey Pines from Riviera Country Club.
All four rounds will be played at the South course. We’ve previously covered this course due to it being played as part of the Farmers Insurance Open, so we will see a lot of carryover from that event, though we do get a different-looking event.
The final event of the famed West Coast Swing, we wrap up our trip on the Pacific side of the country with this signature event. With only 72 players in the field this week, we will see a smaller player pool competing for their share of $20,000,000 and 700 FedExCup points.
Genesis Invitational 2025: Daily Fantasy Golf Picks & Projections
The Genesis Invitational has been a mainstay on tour, having debuted in 1926 as the Los Angeles Open. A few name changes later, and we have the current iteration, typically hosted by Tiger Woods.
Woods had surprisingly announced that he planned to compete this week, but the untimely passing of his mother this past week has resulted in him pulling out of the event. Our condolences go out to the entire Woods family.
Torrey Pines South: Course Breakdown This Week
While we’ve previously covered Torrey Pines South, in that field, we had to factor in the stats for both it and the North course. The South Course is one of the longest setups on tour, playing over 7,750 yards with Kikuyugrass/Ryegrass fairways and rough, and the iconic Poa Annua bentgrass greens. These greens have been known to give players fits, so putting on this specific grass comes into play this week.
The South Course, being one of the longest on tour, puts an extra emphasis on Driving Distance. That said, you can get away with an off week with the driver if your approach game, and putter are on, as made evident by Farmers champion Harris English, who lost strokes off the tee but finished 3rd in the field in SG: Putting and 5th in SG: Approach.
On top of these factors, we also need to factor in our classic Birdie or Better Percentage, as well as Par 5 scoring and 3-Putt Avoidance. Many factors will come into play statistically this week. Luckily, we’ve already seen how this course is playing in 2025, and once the historical play of these courses is added to the model, we should get a great idea of what can be expected.
Weather will also be a major factor this week as well. As we saw during the Farmers, once the wind picks up, it can be tough to score here. Ludvig Aberg is a prime example of this, as his -9 during Round 1 ended up being just one stroke over the total winning score. Scores deteriorated as the weather deteriorated, so we absolutely must keep an eye on this.
We’re currently expecting rain on both Wednesday and Thursday, as well as possibly some showers on Friday. Additionally, the wind looks like it will be playing a factor as well, with early wind projected as high as 35 MPH.
Genesis Invitational 2025 Field: Golf DFS
Torrey Pines this week will feature 72 players, made up mostly of the Top 50 FedExCup standings from 2024, and the Aon Swing 5 and Next 10. We will also see Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Gary Woodland, and Min Woo Lee who will all be competing under Sponsor Exemptions.
While this is the second time we’re seeing Torrey Pines South, only Hideki Matsuyama, Ludvig Aberg, Sahith Theegala, Sungjae Im, and Keegan Bradley will be returning players from the Farmers who are ranked in the OWGR Top 20.
While Hideki Matsuyama is the returning champion, this is a unique situation with the changed venue. Other previous winners Max Homa and Adam Scott will be in attendance as well, but their success at Riviera Country Club will not be factored in this week.
We will see a very strong field, given the invitational status of this event. Of the current OWGR Top 10 players who are still on the PGA TOUR, only Xander Schauffele will not be in this event.

PGA Best Bets & Predictions: 2025 Genesis Invitational (5-7 Overall, +2.1 Units)
- Akshay Bhatia: Top 30 (+100)
- Taylor Pendrith: Top Canadian (+180)
- Colin Morikawa (High End) Taylor Pendrith (Low End): One N' Done Picks of the Week
GOLF DFS PICKS THIS WEEK: TOP TIER
Collin Morikawa ($11,900 FanDuel/$10,000 DraftKings)
With all the stats crunched, Collin Morikawa comes out on top as my favorite play of the week, especially on the high end of the spectrum. Morikawa historically has played well here, with two T4th or better finishes in his last 3 starts here.
Additionally, there’s a strong argument that Morikawa has been the best player on tour thus far this year. While he has only played 8 rounds in 2025, he’s dominating statistically. He currently sits as 1st in Shots Gained: Total, 3rd in Shots Gained: Approach, 1st in GIR%, 2nd in Proximity and Driving Accuracy, and top 20 in Par 5 scoring.
While he isn’t the longest driver of the golf ball, he makes up for this heavily with accuracy, and his near 300-yard average is more than enough to compete most weeks. Morikawa is a great option this week and doesn’t break the bank like most high-end players will.
Sungjae Im ($10,800 FanDuel/$9,200 DraftKings)
Sungjae is one of the other “high” end players I truly like this week. I add the quotations to the high end because most players this week will not require a true payup, as Scottie Scheffler is the only player over $11,000 on DraftKings and the only player over $12,500 on FanDuel.
Much like at the Farmers, I love Sungjae’s game for this event. In his last 4 appearances here, he has 1 missed cut in 2024 but otherwise has multiple T4th finishes and a T6th, which provide clear skill here historically. Much like Morikawa, he is not the longest player in the field by any means, but his accuracy and ability to keep the ball in play off the tee have been strengths in 2025, and ranks 13th on tour in SG: Putting thus far in 16 rounds played.
He also ranks 18th on tour in Birdie or Better Percentage and top 40 in Bogey Avoidance. These factors should put him in a great position to compete for the win, especially with being one of the few high-end players with experience on this course in 2025.
GOLF DFS PICKS THIS WEEK: MID-TIER
Taylor Pendrith ($9,800 FanDuel/$9,000 DraftKings)
Pendrith was one of my favorite plays during the Farmers and he returned great value for us, as his T7th finish was a huge come-up from his relatively low price.
While his price on DK is higher this week, his FanDuel price is nearly $1,000 less this week, which makes him a favorite of mine on that platform. He still ranks highly in Driving Distance, Birdie or Better Percentage, and Par 5 scoring in 2025. I’m going to feature Pendrith heavily in lineups across platforms.
Thomas Detry ($9,600 FanDuel/$8,000 DraftKings)
Detry shocked the world and picked up his first PGA TOUR win this past week at TPC Scottsdale, and I’m going to ride Detry’s hot streak here at Torrey Pines. Detry is playing the best golf of his career, and he’s continually improved at Torrey Pines.
In 2023, he finished T37th and has improved each year, following that up with finishes of T20th in 2024 and T15th earlier this year. He embodies the perfect type of golfer to target this week, as he has no true weakness in his game this year, and he ranks above tour average in every major statistic this week.
Rasmus Hojgaard ($9,900 FanDuel/$8,300 DraftKings)
Hojgaard was a late favorite of mine last week at TPC Scottsdale. I coined him as one of my favorite deeper plays during my appearance on SiriusXM and he rewarded me with a T12 finish. Many of his strengths on the course will play well here at Torrey Pines, where he is making his debut. Hojgaard is a long hitter, currently sitting 6th on tour in 2025 in Driving Distance, and also remains in the top half of the tour in Driving Accuracy.
He’s been an all-around solid approach player and has scored very well on longer holes as he sits top 12 or better in both Par 4 and 5 scoring. His weakest area in 2025 has been the putter, but I’m hopeful that won’t cause too many issues this week, as he’s had some historic success with this grass type and has played in this type of weather many times in his career.
GOLF DFS PICKS THIS WEEK: VALUE TIER
Sam Stevens ($9,200 FanDuel/$7,600 DraftKings)
Stevens was the runner-up earlier this year at Torrey Pines, coming in just one shot behind eventual winner Harris English. Stevens, much like some in the mid-tier above, is a solid all-around player, who has no glaring weakness this week outside of Driving Accuracy.
That said, his appearance here earlier this year saw him gaining strokes on the field with both driving distance and accuracy, so it’s safe to say he might’ve figured that out, at least for this layout. Outside of his 2nd place finish, he also has finishes of T43rd and T13th in his three starts here, so he feels comfortable at this course. Even though it’s a different “event”, I’m favorable on Stevens this week at this price.
Min Woo Lee ($9,400 FanDuel/$7,800 DraftKings)
Min Woo Lee has one of the highest scores in terms of course fit that I've seen at this price in quite some time. He embodies the combination of driver distance, approach, and short game. He currently ranks 3rd in overall driving distance, 3rd in proximity on approach shots and 2nd in approach shots > 200 yards and ranks well in Putts Per Round where he is well above field average.
He also ranks within the top 30 in Birdie or Better Gained and top 15 in Bogey Avoidance. He provides us sneaky good value here.
Akshay Bhatia ($8,800 FanDuel/$7,100 DraftKings)
Akshay is a guy I use basically every week he is in the field when building lineups. His ability to go low on any given day is far too enticing for me to fade, and that remains this week. In 2024 at the Farmers, he finished T13th and also made the cut here at the 2021 U.S. Open. As someone comfortable in this event, it’s hard to fade him.
His driver has been a strength this year, ranking in the top 40 on tour in Driver Accuracy, and while his distance is near the bottom, that feels more like a choice given his high club head speed. With his putter and approach game being his strengths this year, I think he can surprise us this week and potentially crack the top 10.
