PGA DFS Example Lineups The American Express: Top DraftKings & FanDuel PGA DFS Picks

Published: Jan 17, 2024
The 2024 season rolls on with the PGA Tour. Off of a successful and entertaining run through Hawaii, the boys are stateside for the first tournament in the desert of California to kick off the West coast swing. The American Express from La Quinta, California delivers a fairly loaded field this week and if you haven’t seen it yet, be sure to check out this week’s PGA DFS Playbook and despite the delay our PGA DFS Projections are currently live as well and they loved Daniel Berger on the first run in his return. Will Zalatoris didn’t fare as well last week in his return from injury, but he looked okay from the eyeball test. Perhaps it was just a down week and hopefully Berger avoids the same fate. But Grayson Murray won in dramatic fashion last week at the Sony Open and we had some nice screenshots in Discord highlighting some wins.
For this week, I’m dipping my toe into dangerous waters. I’m mostly a Tournament-only player on DraftKings. I subscribe to the belief that PGA DFS is more of a wild card game to play so I don’t really like playing Cash games. But I will be playing the lineups below in some Tournament contests on both DraftKings and FanDuel even though I won’t be playing any cash games. There are also some names below that were not in the Playbook that I included in the Example Lineups. Players like Alex Smalley, Erik Van Rooyen, and Stephan Jaeger made the lineups below with little-to-no fanfare in the Playbook. Regarding Smalley and EVR, I’m simply seeing them get plenty of juice ahead of this Tournament so those are two players I’m fine paying down to if you’re playing Cash games because they likely carry some ownership and project well for this week. And in Jaeger’s case he’s simply not priced appropriately for a guy who can go out and get a top 20, or at the very least, simply make the cut.
Speaking of making the cut, we will see the cut after 54 holes. So that elevates everyone’s floor accordingly and on top of that, will raise scores across the board at an event that caters to good putting on these shorter courses. But I will be in the Discord server later this evening, possibly expanding my own Playbook with some late additions, while also finalizing my 20 lineups on DraftKings.
