2023 BMW Championship Golf Betting Odds, Course Preview & Picks to Win

PGA DFS Coverage for the BMW Championship
The FedEx Cup Playoffs kicked off last weekend in Memphis with a bang. It has been incredible to watch this run from Lucas Glover winning his second straight event. He has moved into 4th overall in the FedEx Cup standings and will be hard for Zach Johnson to ignore as a captain’s pick for the Ryder Cup team. This weekend we will see the Top 50 players in the FedEx Cup standings participate in all four rounds at the BMW Championship at Olympia Fields.
The Field: BMW Championship
The FedEx Cup Playoffs move into its second week and we’ve got a field of 50 players teeing it up just outside Chicago, Illinois this weekend. This stellar field will be competing for the right to play in next week’s Tour Championship at East Lake in Atlanta. Obviously the biggest jump of the week was Lucas Glover going from 49th to 4th in the FedEx Cup standings. The golfers sitting just inside the field for the Tour Championship with one event to go are Sungjae Im, Chris Kirk, and Sam Burns. The players who are on the outside looking in with one event remaining are Sahith Theegala, Justin Rose, Kurt Kitayama, Denny McCarthy, and Seamus Power. A lot can happen before we get to Atlanta next weekend.
The Course: Olympia Fields Country Club
This course has held a lot of big events like the 2003 U.S. Open that was won by Jim Furyk, his one and only major championship in his career. It is long at 7,366 yards and made longer because it plays as a par 70. There are only two Par 5s this weekend which will limit the number of birdies. Hole number one is one of the two and it measures out at 626 yards and is ranked as one of the Top 10 longest holes on the PGA Tour. These greens are on the smaller side from a typical PGA Tour course, which always leads me to weighing scrambling harder than usual. There are not a ton of players in this field with experience on this course, if you need a tiebreaker between two players, look to their history. We will want to target smart ball striking course managers which is not always the easiest thing to find.
Weather: Chicago, Illinois
These players are going to be relieved to leave Memphis after battling through extreme humidity throughout the weekend at the FedEx St. Jude Championship. I don’t know if you saw the photos of Lucas Glover’s pants after his final round, but his butt looked drenched in sweat. We will see less humidity in Chicago and little to no rain in the forecast right now. There looks to be some morning showers on Thursday but after that it’ll be clear skies. The temperatures will progressively get warmer throughout the weekend.
