NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 3/27

The playoff race is heating up, and I generally want to focus on teams that have something to play for and avoid teams that are out of the conversation in my NHL best bets today.

Canadiens vs. Flyers Prediction: Thursday, March 27th

The headline news for this game is that the Philadelphia Flyers fired head coach John Tortorella this morning, but this game is about the Montreal Canadiens getting back on track.

The Habs are on a three-game losing streak but are still holding down the final Eastern Conference wild-card spot by one point. This is about as important a game as you can imagine, and they face a reeling Flyers team.

Over the last two weeks, the Flyers have allowed 3.79 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-worst in the league. That's really no surprise, they're a bad team overall, and it's the type of matchup the Habs love to see to help them pick up a win in a tight playoff race.

Let's turn to Cole Caufield for a goal and some shots tonight. He comes in with a very solid 34 shots on goal over his last 10 games, where he has gone over this 2.5 prop in eight of those games. Caufield has also found the back of the net four times in these last 10 games, but none in the last four. These are the spots I love to look at when it comes to goal props for NHL best bets. A high-volume shooter who hasn't scored in a few games, while also having a great matchup.

A bad defense from the Flyers, a bit of desperation from the Habs, and their best goal-scorer to find the back of the net. Easy as that.

Blues vs. Predators Prediction: Thursday, March 27th

The St. Louis Blues are hotter than the sun, and they're on a one-way train to the playoffs. With seven straight wins, the Blues have rocketed up the Western Conference standings and now find themselves holding down the second wild-card spot.

They have a very winnable matchup tonight against the lowly Nashville Predators, and there should be nothing stopping the Blues' offense that we look to target for NHL best bets today, led by Jordan Kyrou

Kyrou is doing his normal thing to the tune of 7 goals, 6 assists, and 29 shots on goal over the last 10 games, while seeing time on the second forward line and the first power-play unit. That level of production really should continue tonight since Kyrou has had plenty of success against the Predators this season. Over three games, Kyrou has four goals and nine shots on goal, seemingly having their number anytime they meet.

Kryou and the Blues are a rocket ship right now, and they should have no issues dispatching the Preds tonight.
