Lightning vs. Blues Prediction: Tuesday, November 5th
It may not look like it in the standings or at a glance, but there’s a serious mismatch in this game between the Lightning and Blues tonight! Tampa Bay has been one of the best teams offensively this season scoring 3.83 goals per game, which is 6th-best in the NHL right now. But if you go deeper, you’ll find they also rank inside the top 8 in Goals For %, which includes overall game scripts. It means this offense is truly humming.
On the Blues side, their defense numbers are mediocre at best. They allow 3.17 goals per game, which is the middle of the pack in the NHL. They have gotten lucky according to metrics, though. They rank 22nd in Corsi For %, which tracks possession stats, and are 25th in goals expected percentage.
The Blues are 6-6-0 on the season but wins have come against teams like the Sharks, Kraken, and Islanders. So, playing a good team in Tampa Bay will hurt them. Give me the Lightning to win in regulation tonight on the 60-min Money Line.
In addition to the game bet, the Blues are allowing 31.2 shots per game and have a poor Corsi score. That means I am adding a player prop to the card. Nikita Kucherov is off to a great start this season and has become one of the top players in the NHL over the past few years. It should come as no surprise that he’s logged 20 points over 12 games and piled on 47 shots as well. I love Kucherov over 3.5 shots on goal tonight as he’s done this in 8 games this season and should again tonight.
- Expert Lightning vs. Blues Picks:
- Lightning 60-Min Money Line (-105 on DraftKings)
- Nikita Kucherov Over 3.5 Shots On Goal (-130 on DraftKings)
Hurricanes vs. Flyers Prediction: Tuesday, November 5th
On occasion, a wager can be as simple as this: one team is good another is not. That’s what tonight’s matchup is for the Canes and Flyers. The Flyers already have a -13-goal differential and have lost 7 of their last 10 games straight up! They have the 6th-lowest expected goals-for percentage in the league and in real game stats, they are scoring just 2.5 goals per game.
On the Carolina side, they have snapped out of their early season funk in a big way and are riding a 6-game winning streak into tonight. They are scoring 3.9 goals per game (5th overall in the NHL) and boast the best Corsi For % in the NHL at an amazing 62.87%! This game should be a blowout of epic proportions so I will be on the Hurricanes Puck Line tonight without any kind of hesitation.
- Expert Hurricanes vs. Flyers Picks:
- Hurricanes Puck Line -1.5 (-115 on DraftKings)
