Tyrell Williams : A lot of fantasy players left Tyrell Williams on their bench (present company included). Bad move. When he plays, he scores. Tyrell reeled in three of six targets for 91 yards and a touchdown. Of course, he scored a touchdown. He has done so in every game he has played this season. Five games, five touchdowns. With the bye week behind him and the Lions, Chargers and Bengals next up on the schedule, Williams will provide serious value in the weeks to come. Yes, he dropped some key passes but in fantasy there are no minus points for drops. Williams is a set it and forget it fantasy wide receiver.
Zach Ertz : Those who invested a second or third round pick in the tight end are quite unhappy these days. Ertz laid another fantasy egg Sunday catching just two passes for only 20 yards. Indeed, he did not even lead Eagles tight ends in targets on Sunday. On the year, has all of one touchdown. ONE! In the last three games, he has all of eight total receptions. Yes, it is fair to say that the last three games have been against strong defenses in Buffalo and Minnesota (and an inspired and finally playing to their level Cowboys defense). However, the upcoming schedule is hardly better with the Bears, a bye, the Patriots, and the Seahawks up next. If you own Ertz, just hold him as weeks 13-15 feature the Dolphins, Giants and Washington. However, I have no problem if you stream in another tight end (maybe just the guy who faces the Cardinals) until that good later season streak.
Arizona Cardinals: What a mess! They play the high-powered Saints, and they run the ball only 11 times (and only 8 by running backs)? Good plan. Give the ball back to Drew Brees and see what happens. Ugh. Yes, I know Chase Edmonds got hurt, but how can a team dress only two running backs two games in a row? Once is stupid, twice is just manifestly stupid. Yes, I know that Zach Zenner and Alfred Morris hardly strike fear into NFL opponents but if you do not have any credible threat you are going to run the ball, then Kyler Murray will be running for his life all day. Until David Johnson returns, I would give some serious thought to just sitting all Cardinals. No way I play any Cardinals Thursday against the Niners. None.
Noah Fant: The Broncos’ rookie tight end did not light up the scoreboard posting five catches for just 26 yards. However, with Emmanuel Sanders now in San Francisco, Fant led the Broncos in targets with eight. The Broncos are not good but Fant is. They should use the remainder of 2019 to try and figure out exactly how good he is and could be. If this week is any indication, they are doing exactly that. Fant is definitely worth a speculative bid and stash.
Darius Slayton: On the stat sheet, it was a good day for Slayton who reeled in two touchdowns. However, those were his only two grabs on only five targets. The real value going forward is not Slayton but Golden Tate who was targeted ten times, catching 8 of those for 85 yards. Tate now has 30 targets in the last three weeks. Compare that to half that number for Slayton and only 23 for Evan Engram . Yes, Slayton is still a good entry into the fantasyalarm.com dart board for cheap DFS value but he is only a bye week replacement in year-long fantasy. Golden Tate is the guy you want to own, especially in PPR.
Final Note: Quick strategy tip here as I am not in a ranting mood. Take a hard look at teams on bye and players cut from those teams each of the next few weeks. If a good player hits the wire, grab and stash him. Now back to your great fantasyalarm.com content!
