Week 13 is in the books and as we march towards the fantasy playoffs lets take a look at some notable performances from the running back position as well as some players that are making late season pushes to take over their team's backfield.
Cam Akers, LAR - This is the obvious one to talk about from Week 13 right? Akers finally broke through to lead the Rams backfield, playing over 60-percent of the offensive snaps and leading the team with 21 carries for 72 yards and a touchdown. The score was his third in as many weeks which has been great for fantasy owners who have held onto the rookie running back to this point in the year. In Week 14 the Akers will have a shot to repeat his performance against a bad Patriots run defense. If He is able to take the lead role in the upcoming week as well then it should be safe to assume he is the back to own on the Rams.
Myles Gaskin, MIA - Gaskin was activated off the IR and was immedaitely handed a full workload, taking 21 carries for 90 yards while adding two catches for 51 yards against the Bengals. In Week 14 the Dolphins face a Chiefs team that struggles agains tthe run but Miami may not be able to run the football too often if they find themselves in a shootout.
Devontae Booker , LAR - With Josh Jacobs ruled out it was Booker who took on the starting gig against the Jets and finished with 16 carries for 50 yards. Safe to say that Booker is not Josh Jacobs . He will be a tough man to trust given his unispiring performance but with Jacobs questionable to play in Week 14 as well we at least know Booker will be the man getting the touches.
Alvin Kamara , NO - After sharing carries with Latavius Murray over the previous two weeks we finally saw Kamara take on the lionshare of the touches as he had his best game yet with Taysom Hill under center, finishing with 15 carries for 88 yards and a touchdown. His lack of involvement in the passing game is still worrisome and a tough game agaisnt the Eagles is coming in Week 14.
Wayne Gallman , NYG - Gallman rushed for a season high 135 yards in Week 13 but his touchdown streak came to an end as fantasy owners watched bakcup Alfred Morris score not once but twice. That said, this backfield is all Gallman's when it comes to volume and in Week 14 he will have a chance to start a new touchdown streak against the Cardinals.
Jonathan Taylor, IND - For the second straight week Taylor led the Colts backfield in rushing attempts and cracked the 90-yard mark. The rookie running back has himself an elite matchup in Week 14 against a Raiders defense that just allowed Ty Johnson to rush for over 100-yards against them in Week 13.
