Giants vs. Commanders Predictions For Week 2, Sunday 9/15

As stated, predicting NFC East games can be a nightmare, even when they are expected to be lopsided matchups. For example, it was the Commanders who ruined the Philadelphia Eagles’ 10-0 start last year as massive underdogs on Monday Night Football.

So, when we get matchups expected to be close like this Giants vs. Commanders game, it can be even more intimidating. Of course, that’s what our Giants vs. Commanders predictions are here to help with, and most discussions will revolve around the QBs in this matchup.

New York has put their faith in a past high draft pick in Daniel Jones, while Washington’s Jayden Daniels went #2 in the most recent NFL Draft. While it may not be a Tom Brady vs. Peyton Manning matchup, it’s an interesting one nonetheless. Will experience prevail or youth rise to the top?

New York Giants: Erasing The Memory Of Week 1

The Giants would prefer us not to answer that question after their Week 1 performance. It was arguably the worst of the entire NFL, and most fans feel that it was. At home, the G-Men were dominated by a Minnesota Vikings team led by QB Sam Darnold, who was supposed to be the backup QB heading into the year.

Of course, no longer having elite RB Saquon Barkley certainly doesn’t help, and their weapons on the outside around Jones are also lacking. While that may be true, not scoring a single touchdown and posting just six points is still inexcusable, so perhaps getting out of East Rutherford is what the Giants need.

Washington Commanders: Building On Daniels

In fact, this matchup being in the nation’s capital is also what most of the Commanders would prefer, as last week’s game down in Tampa Bay against the Buccaneers reached ‘feels like’ temperatures of over 100 degrees.

It was a 17-point loss, so it may look just as bad as the Giants’ defeat, but it wasn’t nearly as abysmal. Rookie QB Jayden Daniels may have had just 184 passing yards, but he was efficient, and more importantly, demonstrated what he is truly meant to be - a dual threat. Daniels scored two rushing touchdowns and even led the team in rushing yards!

That may not be a recipe for sustained success, but it did display that Daniels was ready for the moment.

Giants vs. Commanders Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines

We’ve been implying that this NFC East clash is expected to be close, and the latest Giants vs. Commanders odds at FanDuel Sportsbook illustrate that:

Giants vs. Commanders Predictions: Washington Money Line (-116 at FanDuel Sportsbook)

There’s no burying the lead here - the best bet from our Giants vs. Commanders predictions is on Washington’s money line. However, if you don’t want to sweat out a pick on a winner, we understand. That’s why we’d also recommend adding the over 42.5 points to your Giants vs. Commanders picks.

FanDuel also provides the best number in that regard too, so it’s a win-win really. Expanding on that, the point spread is as high as three at some other platforms, so let’s grab the value where we can! Since FD seems to be giving the Giants more respect than many, we’re able to take the Washington money line and not even worry about how many they win by.

The biggest concern for Daniels this offseason was his size. Well, not only did he record 88 rushing yards and two scores on the ground, but he carried the rock 16 times! That’s on par with what Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson did in Week 1, and that’s a unanimous MVP winner!

We aren’t putting him on that caliber yet, but if Darnold can dice up this New York defense, a young Daniels with fresh legs certainly can as well. On that note, it wasn’t just Darnold carving up the Giants - Vikings RB Aaron Jones also rushing for 94 yards and a touchdown. Until New York proves they can compete, the best bet from our Giants vs. Commanders predictions is Washington’s money line (-116 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
