NFL Injury Report 2024 Ahead Of Sunday's Week 12 Games: DeVonta Smith, More

With Week 12 of the NFL season upon us, the first thing that comes to my mind is where did the season go? How is it already Week 12? Anyways, let's get back to the injuries.
NFL Injury Report For Week 12: Fantasy Football Injuries
We’ve already got crucial news as the likes of Brock Purdy and Devonta Smith are out and are awaiting news on Malik Nabers and Keenan Allen. Lets dive into the rest of the NFL Injury Report for Week 12 of the NFL season and see what will impact our fantasy football rosters the most.
NFL Week 12 Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Brock Purdy Injury Update - Shoulder
After not practicing all week despite being told everything was good, it appears that the 49ers were lying after all as Brock Purdy has been ruled out for Week 12. Brandon Allen is starting in his place. Purdy received an MRI on Friday that reportedly came back good, but the fact he went for one is concerning enough.
D’Andre Swift Injury Update - Groin
After missing practice on Wednesday, his availability got better and better as the week went on. He was limited on Thursday, practiced in full on Friday, and told the media that he’s good to go for the Bears Week 12 divisional matchup against the Vikings.
Isiah Pacheco Injury Update - Ankle
The Chiefs starting running back has practiced all week and is deemed healthy enough to play, but the team is going to keep him out for Week 12 with a short week between 12 and 13 as they play the following Friday after Thanksgiving. Pacheco hasn’t played since Week 2 and will be returning to the field in Week 13 against the Raiders.
Tyjae Spears Injury Update - Concussion
It’s just been a brutal season for Tyjae Spears who’s going to miss another game due to a concussion. He’s only been able to play in bits and pieces of seven games due to multiple injuries and his injury history is starting to look like a Target receipt. Tony Pollard season is upon us in Tennessee.
Jonathan Brooks Injury Update - Knee
Head coach Dave Canales confirmed on Friday that rookie running back Jonathan Brooks will be making his season-debut in Week 12, but as the backup. Per the video below, the backfield starts with Chuba Hubbard.
Alexander Mattison Injury Update - Ankle
Alexander Mattison and Zamir White have both listed as doubtful this week, Mattison with an ankle injury and White with a quad injury. Mattison had taken over as the lead back until last week where White saw more touches than him. Ameer Abdullah will get the first crack as the Raiders’ lead back while rookie Dylan Laube operates as his backup.
Zamir White Injury Update - Quad
Alexander Mattison and Zamir White have both listed as doubtful this week, Mattison with an ankle injury and White with a quad injury. Things may have started to shift back in White’s favor last week as he out-touched Mattison for the first time in a long while. This is an unfortunate injury for White. Ameer Abdullah will get the first crack as the Raiders’ lead back while rookie Dylan Laube operates as his backup.
NFL Week 12 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
CeeDee Lamb Injury Update - Back, Foot
After practicing on Friday, CeeDee Lamb has been fully removed from the injury report – and possibly the recording studio – and he will play in the Cowboys Week 12 contest.
Malik Nabers Injury Update - Groin
This is the same injury we saw Malik Nabers pop with out of the blue earlier in the year and he played that very same week. He told reporters he’s been dealing with this issue for a couple of years and that he intends on playing in Week 12.
Mike Evans Injury Update - Hamstring
After practicing in full all week and the reporting earlier in the week stating that he was going to play in Week 12, that’s confirmed now as Mike Evans has been removed from the injury report. Evans told the media he doesn’t think he’ll need to be on any sort of pitch count after missing three consecutive games.
Devonta Smith Injury Update - Hamstring
After not logging any sort of practice, Devonta Smith has been ruled out with a hamstring injury in Week 12. They take on the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.
Keenan Allen Injury Update - Ankle
Keenan Allen rolled his ankle in Friday’s practice and is officially listed as questionable. He told the media he’s expecting to play, but we’ll definitely have to see how his ankle reacts over the next couple of days leading into Sunday.
Ladd McConkey Injury Update - Shoulder
After missing practice earlier in the week, Ladd McConkey was able to return to practice despite his shoulder ailment. That’s a good sign for his Week 12 availability.
Adam Thielen Injury Update - Hamstring
After an eight week absence, Adam Thielen will return to the field and play in the Panthers’ Week 12 contest. The last time Thielen played, Diontae Johnson was still on the team, so Thielen should step into a sizable role right away. Only thing we should worry about slightly is also what Thielen’s worried about; rust.
Brandin Cooks Injury Update - Knee
After logging three straight limited practices, Brandin Cooks has officially been listed as questionable. We last saw Cooks in Week 4 as he can hopefully return to the field in Week 12.
Rashod Bateman Injury Update - Knee
A new member of the Baltimore Ravens injury report is Rashod Bateman as he didn’t practice with a knee injury. They’ll have one more day of practice on Saturday considering they’re playing on Monday Night Football.
NFL Week 12 Injury Report: Tight Ends
George Kittle Injury Update - Hamstring
If you were interested if George Kittle was playing this week, listen to the man himself tell you he’s playing this week.
Sam LaPorta Injury Update - Shoulder
Head coach Dan Campbell spoke with the media on Friday and said that Sam LaPorta looks as if he has fresh legs heading into Week 12 thanks to a week off. He’s good to go coming off the shoulder injury.
Jake Ferguson Injury Update - Concussion
The Dallas Cowboys have ruled Jake Ferguson out for their Week 12 game due to a concussion.
Player News
Dolphins signed No. 13 overall pick DT Kenneth Grant to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Grant will sign his contract today. The former Michigan defensive tackle is expected to fill a major void left by Christian Wilkins, who left for the Raiders in the 2024 offseason. Grant totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and seven TFLs in his final season at Michigan and excelled at stopping the run while also generating 27 pressures in his final season, per PFF.
Beat reporter John Hendrix reports that free agent WR Donovan Peoples-Jones is among the 16 players that the Saints will host for their rookie minicamp.
Peoples-Jones last played regular season snaps with the Lions back in 2023, when he caught 13-of-24 targets for 155 yards. He is highly unlikely to return to fantasy relevance at this point but could perhaps sign on as a special teams contributor.
Titans signed fourth-round pick WR Elic Ayomanor to a four-year contract.
Ayomanor will now begin learning behind Calvin Ridley. Although Ayomanor is unlikely to find a meaningful role in year one, dynasty managers should note his status as training camp gets underway this summer. The former Stanford receiver flashed big-play ability in his two college seasons.
Buccaneers signed seventh-round pick WR Tez Johnson to a four-year contract.
Johnson will serve as a rotational deep-threat option for Baker Mayfield. His thin frame (5'10/154) simply does not lend itself to the repeated hits one incurs in a full-time role. Johnson did earn 100-plus targets in his two seasons at Oregon, though. His big-play style make him a better fit in best ball for now, pending any major on-field breakthroughs.
Giants waived DT Casey Rogers.
Rogers was a 2024 undrafted free agent and logged 33 defensive snaps for the Giants in his rookie season. He is credited with zero tackles and/or sacks. He may find his way onto another roster as a practice squad option.
Vikings signed third-round pick WR Tai Felton to a four-year contract.
Felton is quietly in play to challenge Vikings No. 3 WR Jalen Nailor in training camp. Nailor (5'11/190) caught 28-of-42 targets for 414 yards and six touchdowns in his first season as a starter last year, with the latter category buoying his fantasy productivity. Felton (6'1/183), meanwhile, caught 96-of-143 targets for 1,119 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 2.32 yards per route run in his final college season. Fantasy managers should monitor Felton’s training camp reports this summer, as he could have a matchup-based WR5 role if everything falls into place.
