2022 NFL Week 9 Injury News: Romeo Doubs and Aaron Jones Injury Updates

Nothing makes a fantasy football owner smile more than a short NFL Injury Report and that is exactly what we are going to get here as Week 9 comes to a close. That's not to say the injuries that did occur didn't hurt us – both in seasonal fantasy and DFS – but when the list is short, you know that your Week 10 waiver wire work is going to be light. Of course, we'll still have to wait for more news Monday as there are always some bumps, bruises and soft-tissue injuries that crop up the day after. For now, we'll take the short list and figure out how to deal with it.
NFL Quarterback Injury Updates
Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans – Ankle
This isn't a new injury, but considering Tannehill was considered questionable and a game-time decision for this week, we'd at lest report that he did not play Sunday night and is still considered week-to-week with this current ankle injury. Chances are, if you are in a superflex league, Malik Willis is already gone, but you should always check. Re-draft, single-quarterback league owners do not need to add Willis to their rosters.
NFL Running Back Injury Updates
Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers – Ankle
Jones left Sunday's game with an ankle injury fairly early on and was quickly deemed questionable to return. He never made it back and while we have yet to hear of any x-rays or tests, we do know that he was seen in a walking boot following the game. Expect the team to provide updates either Monday or Tuesday and from there we will know just how serious and for how long he is expected out. A.J Dillon will take over lead back responsibilities should Jones miss any time, with Kyren Hill also likely to be involved in the mix for carries.
Craig Reynolds, Detroit Lions – Ribs
He suffered a rib injury during the first half on Sunday and never made it back into the game. Reynolds served merely as a change-of-pace back, but his absence, coupled with D'Andre Swift's continued injury woes, may give rise to more snaps for Justin Jackson. Jamaal Williams still leads this backfield, but as this team continues to struggle, the carry-share could get a little murky.
Chris Evans, Cincinnati Bengals – Knee
For those in deeper leagues and leagues that score points for return yards, it was a rough day for Evans who appeared to have suffered a fairly significant knee injury during the first half. He never returned and while we don't have a full report from the team, it does sound like this could be a long-term thing. Trent Taylor is next in line to return kicks and punts for the Bengals.
NFL Wide Receiver Injury Updates
Romeo Doubs, Green Bay Packers – Ankle
You knew it was going to be a tough day for Aaron Rodgers after he threw that first green zone pick, but you never want it to be this tough.
Doubs injured his ankle after making an 18-yard catch and immediately hobbled over to the sidelines where he was looked at by trainers. The situation went from bad to worse as you see here – he had to be carted off to the locker room. We haven't heard about any test results yet, but Doubs was seen in a walking boot and on crutches as he was leaving the stadium. Early speculation is that it could be a high-ankle sprain which could keep him out for a few weeks.
Christian Watson, Green Bay Packers – Concussion
For the second week in a row, the rookie wideout left the game and was being evaluated for a concussion. There hasn't been an official report from the team yet, but a recurring head injury doesn't exactly scream day-to-day. We'd say you should look at Amari Rodgers, Sammy Watkins or Samori Toure for your Week 10 waiver wire work, but this is starting to look like a quarterback problem and not just the receivers.

Dolphins signed No. 13 overall pick DT Kenneth Grant to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Grant will sign his contract today. The former Michigan defensive tackle is expected to fill a major void left by Christian Wilkins, who left for the Raiders in the 2024 offseason. Grant totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and seven TFLs in his final season at Michigan and excelled at stopping the run while also generating 27 pressures in his final season, per PFF.
Beat reporter John Hendrix reports that free agent WR Donovan Peoples-Jones is among the 16 players that the Saints will host for their rookie minicamp.
Peoples-Jones last played regular season snaps with the Lions back in 2023, when he caught 13-of-24 targets for 155 yards. He is highly unlikely to return to fantasy relevance at this point but could perhaps sign on as a special teams contributor.
Titans signed fourth-round pick WR Elic Ayomanor to a four-year contract.
Ayomanor will now begin learning behind Calvin Ridley. Although Ayomanor is unlikely to find a meaningful role in year one, dynasty managers should note his status as training camp gets underway this summer. The former Stanford receiver flashed big-play ability in his two college seasons.
Buccaneers signed seventh-round pick WR Tez Johnson to a four-year contract.
Johnson will serve as a rotational deep-threat option for Baker Mayfield. His thin frame (5'10/154) simply does not lend itself to the repeated hits one incurs in a full-time role. Johnson did earn 100-plus targets in his two seasons at Oregon, though. His big-play style make him a better fit in best ball for now, pending any major on-field breakthroughs.
Giants waived DT Casey Rogers.
Rogers was a 2024 undrafted free agent and logged 33 defensive snaps for the Giants in his rookie season. He is credited with zero tackles and/or sacks. He may find his way onto another roster as a practice squad option.
Vikings signed third-round pick WR Tai Felton to a four-year contract.
Felton is quietly in play to challenge Vikings No. 3 WR Jalen Nailor in training camp. Nailor (5'11/190) caught 28-of-42 targets for 414 yards and six touchdowns in his first season as a starter last year, with the latter category buoying his fantasy productivity. Felton (6'1/183), meanwhile, caught 96-of-143 targets for 1,119 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 2.32 yards per route run in his final college season. Fantasy managers should monitor Felton’s training camp reports this summer, as he could have a matchup-based WR5 role if everything falls into place.
