Kenyan Drake Released By Raiders
The Las Vegas Raiders had reportedly been trying to trade him but, given the lack of interest, it seems he will be outright released. If Josh McDaniels is going to bring over his offense from New England, that means that guys like Ameer Abdullah, Zamir White, and Brandon Bolden could be in line for the “James White” role. There were already reports before this that Abdullah is the front-runner to be the team's top pass-catching running back.
Hall of Fame Quarterback Len Dawson Has Passed Away
Unfortunately, we have to start by reporting some sad news. Legendary quarterback Len Dawson has passed away at the age of 87. Not only was he a Super Bowl Champion, Super Bowl MVP, NFL Man of the Year, and multiple-time All-Star, but Dawson also brought us one of the most iconic images of a by-gone era. Who can forget this picture of him smoking a cigarette and drinking a Fresca at halftime of the Super Bowl. RIP to a legend.
Dolphins TE Mike Gesicki in NFL Trade Rumors
Sources have said that Mike Gesicki’s name has come up in trade talks this offseason – which makes a lot of sense. Gesicki isn't really a great fit for the tight end role in Mike McDaniel’s offense, so the Miami Dolphins might not sign him to a long-term deal. If that’s the case, the dolphins might as well try to get something for him now rather than use him in a role that doesn’t fit his skillset while paying him $10 million.
NFL Injury News: Incoming and Outgoing
J.C. Jackson underwent a minor procedure on his ankle. It will keep the Los Angeles Chargers cornerback out two to four weeks, which will likely include the start of the season.
Matt Corral was placed on season-ending IR by the Panthers. The rookie quarterback did not really figure into Carolina's starting competition for 2022 anyway.
Chase Young was moved to the PUP list meaning that he will miss the first four games at least for the Washington Commanders defense.
Jameson Williams was moved to the PUP list as well, as expected. He’s recovering from a torn ACL in January, so a mid-to-late season return is most likely for the Detroit Lions wide receiver.
Gus Edwards was moved to the PUP list, meaning he will miss the first four games of the season for the Baltimore Ravens. J.K. Dobbins, recovering from a similar injury, was not placed on PUP.
