Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, and Tennessee. If you started last season saying Tennessee was going to win a Wild Card game in the playoffs and the Jaguars would be only a couple plays away from making it to the Super Bowl, you probably would lose the room.

But that happened.

And arguably, every single team in this division got better.

Here are the stats you need to know about the AFC South heading into the 2018 NFL season:

HOUSTON TEXANS

The Houston Texans theme song is Clay Walkers’ “It’s Football Time in Houston.” In 2003, the Texans tried to change it to a fight song written by Nickelback (Chad Kroeger), but fans protested.

Deshaun Watson was electric for five games. He averaged 294.4 passing yards and 3.6 passing touchdowns per game. However, in his first two games in the NFL combined, he completed 27 of his 47 pass attempts for 227 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. According to Pro Football Focus, Watson’s adjusted completion percentage was 38th among quarterbacks who played in at least 25 percent of their team’s offensive snaps. Only DeShone Kizer and Drew Stanton were worse.

Instead of Tom Savage , it’s Brandon Weeden who takes the reins if Watson’s surgically repaired knees have any issues behind a bottom rated offensive line.

Lamar Miller went over 1,000 total yards in each of his last four seasons. In 2014, he averaged 5.1 yards per carry. In 2015, 4.5 YPC. 2016, 4.0 YPC. And last year, 3.7 YPC.

However, his supposed heir apparent, D’Onta Foreman, is still nursing an Achilles injury and is not expected back for week one and there is no time table for his return. As of now, Alfred Blue is No. 2.

DeAndre Hopkins put up at least 1,210 receiving yards in three of his last four seasons. Both he and Antonio Brown missed at least one game last year and were still the No. 1 and No. 2 fantasy scoring wide outs in both PPR and non-PPR formats.

Will Fuller was the Texans’ first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. Based off the four-game period when Fuller and Deshaun Watson were on the field together and assuming he would have maintained those averages over a 16-game period, that would be 52 catches for 1,116 yards, and 28 touchdowns. The current record holder for receiving touchdowns in a single season is Hall of Famer, Randy Moss, with 23.

Braxton Miller and Bruce Ellington will battle it out for the No. 3 role. Someone will write a sleeper piece on one or both which is a pretty simple copy and paste job from any of the last two years.

Rookie Keke Coutee is out for a few weeks with a strained hamstring.

Ryan Griffin is the projected starting tight end for the Houston Texans now that C.J. Fiedorowicz decided to retire for the NFL after sustaining numerous concussions. In the team’s preseason opener, Griffin started and he caught two passes for 29 yards.

Rookie tight end, Jordan Akins , scored two touchdowns in the team’s preseason opener. He was the Texans’ third-round pick this year in the NFL Draft. But in 2010, he was the Texas Rangers’ third-round pick in the MLB Draft.

INDIANAPLIS COLTS

Over the off season the Colts thought they hired Josh McDaniels to be their head coach, but he quit before he started. The first head coach of the Indianapolis Colts after they moved from Baltimore was Frank Kush. He quit prior to the last game of the season.

Andrew Luck underwent surgery in January of 2017 for a torn labrum. The injury was sustained back in 2015. While most labrum injuries are at the front of the shoulder, his was at the back. It took him over 500 days to throw a regulation sized football. He’s also sporting a mustache that he knows makes him look like Uncle Rico.

Jacoby Brissett was sacked a league-high 52 times in 2017. Matthew Stafford was sacked 46 times, the second most.

Marlon Mack was the Colts’ fourth-round draft pick in 2017. The second-year back was supposed to start this year now that Frank Gore is in Miami. However, he left the first preseason game with a hamstring strain and there are two rookies nipping at his heels.

Rookie Nyheim Hines was a fourth-round pick for the Colts. He had a rough NFL debut, which included a pair of muffed punts and the common struggle in pass protection. He’s more of a change of pace back, but if Mack misses time, he’ll get more work.

But it’s fellow rookie, Jordan Wilkins , who’s getting some first-team work, despite getting picked one round after Hines. As early as July, there was speculation about Wilkins vying for the starting job. Over 10 percent of Wilkins’ carries his senior year went for 15-plus yards.

Robert Turbin will start the season with a four-game PED suspension. He’s never rushed for more than 354 yards in any of his six years in the league. Only once did he score more than one rushing touchdown in a season. And that year, 2016, was with the Colts and he got in there seven times.

Despite not having Andrew Luck for an entire season, T.Y. Hilton was only 34 yards shy of 1,000-plus receiving yards. That was the only time he’s missed that yardage mark since his rookie season. He’s only missed one game in his six-year career. But he only went over 60 yards and/or scored a touchdown in five games last year.

It’s been an eventful off-season for Ryan Grant . First, there were reports that Washington would re-sign the wide out. Didn’t happen. Then he signed with the Ravens, but that was voided after he failed a physical (and coincidentally came right after the Raiders cut the future Raven, Michael Crabtree ). And then he landed with the Colts, now primed to be the No. 2 guy, alongside T.Y. Hilton

Supposedly, the No. 3 receiver is Chester Rogers . Over the last two seasons, Rogers has combined for 42 catches, 557 yards and one touchdown.

Rookie receiver Deon Cain tore his ACL in the first preseason game and is out for the season.

And yet, there is no interest from the team to consider signing Dez Bryant .

Jack Doyle has a 76 percent career catch rate which is the best in the NFL among non-running backs with at least 200 targets.

Eric Ebron caught 10 passes in Week 14, and touchdowns in Weeks 15 and 16 of the 2017 season. In his first 12 games, he caught a total of 32 passes for 355 yards and two touchdowns. In 2017, Ebron tied for the sixth most drops among tight ends. In 2016, he was tied for the absolute most. In 2015, he was at the sixth most again. And during his rookie season he only logged four drops, but that was while only catching 25 passes on the season.

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

The first team that the Jacksonville Jaguars ever beat in a playoff game was the Buffalo Bills in the 1996 AFC Wildcard playoff game. The Jags won 30-27. In the divisional round, they went on to beat the Denver Broncos by the same score. And then they lost to the New England Patriots 20-6 in the AFC Championship game. 11 years later their post season schedule was darn similar.

Blake Bortles has never missed a field goal.

Just kidding, but if you don’t follow them, make sure to check out @BortlesFacts on Twitter.

But in all seriousness, Blake Bortles was the No. 1 scoring quarterback during the fantasy playoffs, from Weeks 14 to 16. Three of his four 300-plus passing yard performances happened from Weeks 13 to 16.

Leonard Fournette is 6-0, 228 pounds. And yet, according to NFL’s Next Gen Stats, Fournette was the fastest ball carrier in 2017 hitting 22.05 mph in Week 5 on a 90 yard rushing touchdown. He also had the second fastest speed, in Week 6 on a 75 yard rushing touchdown (21.76 mph). Third was Martavis Bryant (21.72) and fourth was Marquise Goodwin (21.68).

T.J. Yeldon is still the handcuff on this team, and Corey Grant is behind him.

From Weeks 1 through the Jag’s Week 8 bye, Allen Hurns played in 76 percent of the team’s offensive snaps, the most of all the receivers on the team. Second was Marqise Lee at 75 percent. Then there was a drop off to Keelan Cole at 54 percent. From Weeks 9 to 14, Lee led the way by playing in 85 percent of the snaps, Cole at 71 percent, and Westbrook at 67 percent. Lee’s eight drops were tied for fifth most in the league. Only Amari Cooper had more drops on fewer targets.

Donte Moncrief signed a one-year, $9.6 million fully guaranteed deal, even though he missed 11 games in the last two years.

Last year, Keelan Cole scored the same number of touchdowns and put up more yards than Marqise Lee . From Weeks 13 to 16, Cole scored a touchdown and/or went over 100 yards in each game. 2017 was his rookie season, he was an undrafted free agent, and in his first preseason game, he caught a 97-yard touchdown pass against the New England Patriots.

Dede Westbrook was also a rookie last year, but he was a fourth-round pick out of Oklahoma. He finished fourth place in the Heisman Trophy voting behind Lamar Jackson (winner), Deshaun Watson , and Baker Mayfield . He also finished fourth in fantasy points as a wide receiver for the 2017 Jacksonville Jaguars.

Even though this is a team that wants to run first, and even though this is a team with four viable wide receivers heading into the draft, the Jaguars decided to draft D.J. Chark from LSU in the second round of the NFL Draft. He’s getting media love for his camp performance thus far.

Longtime fan favorite, Marcedes Lewis , is no longer with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Instead, the team picked up journeyman Austin Seferian-Jenkins . Seferian Jenkins played with the Jets last year and caught 50 passes for 357 yards and three touchdowns. And more than one touchdown got overturned.

TENNESSEE TITANS

The Tennessee Titans were the Houston Oilers. They moved to Tennessee in 1997 and played in Memphis for one season, and then moved to Nashville. They were the Tennessee Oilers for two years and then became the Titans in 1999. That was the one year that the Tennessee based franchise made the Super Bowl.

Last season, Marcus Mariota threw more interceptions (15) than touchdowns (13) during the regular season. The only other quarterbacks who played in at least 25 percent of their team’s offensive snaps to do that last year were: DeShone Kizer , Trevor Siemian , Brett Hundley , C.J. Beathard , and Tom Savage .

In the last game of the 2017 regular season, Derrick Henry carried the ball 28 times for just 51 yards. Toward the end of the game, he made his lone catch for 66 yards and a touchdown. Twice all year he went over 100 total yards. If you remove those two games, he only averaged 3.4 yards per carry.

Since getting drafted in the fifth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, 2017 was the first time that Dion Lewis played in all 16 games. It was also the first time he’d rushed for over 283 yards or scored more than two touchdowns in a season. However, he has never averaged less that 4.4 yards per carry on a season in the NFL.

Corey Davis was the fifth overall pick of the 2017 NFL Draft. There were high expectations going into the season, but Davis only managed 34 catches for 375 yards and didn’t score a touchdown during the regular season. However, during their two games in the playoffs, Davis combined for nine catches, 98 yards and two touchdowns.

For some reason Rishard Matthews hasn’t practiced all preseason. The media covering the team has no information. Matthews is there on the sideline, but not participating. There is no timetable for a return.

In Matthews’ absence, Taywan Taylor is running with the first-team offense. Even though 61 percent of Taylor’s routes last season came in the slot, under new offensive coordinator, Matt LaFleur, Taylor is primarily running on the outside.

On August 16, Delanie Walker limped off the practice field. Like Rishard Matthews , the Titans are leaving the injury undisclosed. Over his last four seasons, Walker missed three games, never put up less than 63 catches or 800 yards.
