NBA DFS Showdown Slate Picks

MVP/Captain

Damian Lillard, Portland Trail Blazers

It really is dame time in Portland right now. He is feeling it, scoring at least 28 points in his last 10 games including four games in which he dropped a 40-piece. Lillard has the lowest floor of anyone on this slate just by how many free throws he has been shooting. He has gotten at least 11 free throws in four straight games.

LeBron James, Los Angeles Lakers

Lebron has not played since breaking the scoring record two games ago. He has been dealing with an ankle injury that has lingered all season long and it sounds like will linger for the rest of the year. If Lebron is a go tonight he will be a full-go and is in play.

Update: Lebron James has been ruled out for tonight's games. That opens up more for Troy Brown Jr. and Rui Hachimura. Anthony Davis is my top player at the captain spot.

Anthony Davis, Los Angeles Lakers

I love Anthony Davis in this matchup and he is my favorite pick for the captain spot tonight. Portland has a small front court with Jusuf Nurkic injured as they have been starting Drew Eubanks. Davis had a tough shooting night on Saturday against the Warriors going 5-16 from the field. But in his last five games, he has been rebounding the heck out of the ball, grabbing at least 14 rebounds in four of those games. I love the floor, and if Lebron does not play his ceiling just skyrockets.

Utility

D'Angelo Russell, Los Angeles Lakers

Russell had a solid debut for the Lakers Saturday night scoring 15 points and dishing out six assists and finishing with just under 30 fantasy points. Russell brings much-needed shooting to this squad and should shoot five plus three-point shots a game as a 39% shooter. His price is a bit expensive, but I am ok playing him still if you can afford him.

Anfernee Simons, Portland Trail Blazers

Simons has gone through a shooting slump over his past two games. He has seven for his last 26 from the floor and three for his last 15 from downtown. What we do love to see is his assist number climbing. Simons has dished out at least five assists over his last five games. If he starts to get hot again tonight in a good matchup, he could give you 40+ fantasy points.

Dennis Schroder, Los Angeles Lakers

Schroder has been very solid over his past two games and was one of the main reasons the Lakers upset the Golden State Warriors Saturday night. He scored a team-high 26 points in that one, which made for back-to-back games in which he scored over 25 points. He and Anthony Davis have developed some chemistry in the pick-and-roll department as Schroder also has 15 assists in two games.

Jarred Vanderbilt, Los Angeles Lakers

When I wrote the playbook on Saturday it had Jare Vanderbilt in it and he delivered scoring 30 fantasy points posting a line of 12-8-4 in just 17 minutes. We know his rebounding will continue to be there, so as his minutes increase he will have even more opportunities. At $4,600 I am running it back again tonight against this small Blazers frontcourt.

Dart throws

Drew Eubanks, Portland Trail Blazers

Eubanks is the starting center for this Blazers team Jusuf Nurkic was injured. Eubanks has scored over 20 fantasy points in his last three games. This Blazers team does not have a lot of size, so Eubanks will be instrumental in trying to slow down Anthony Davis tonight. He should see enough run to warrant around 25 fantasy points.

Shaedon Sharpe, Portland Trail Blazers

With Josh Hart being traded to Knicks we are starting to see Shaedon Sharpe get consistent minutes. He has played at least 22 minutes in three straight games while scoring over 23 fantasy points in each. I like Sharpe in this fast-paced matchup, and he could be in store for another solid night.40-piece
