The sportsbooks got the best of us and our NBA best bets yesterday, as DeAndre Ayton and the Portland Trail Blazers had a great performance against the Milwaukee Bucks. Portland won 125-112 in an upset and Ayton earned fourteen rebounds.

The Philadelphia 76ers absolutely demolished the Los Angeles Lakers, in an unforeseen blowout. The Lakers were down by 16 points at halftime, and never truly recovered. An absolutely terrible display from a hot team against a team with only two starters playing.

NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 1/29

Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets is through with the Los Angeles Lakers and will stay away from spreads, money lines, and totals as they once again prove to be too volatile.

Instead of betting on straight bets, which are wildly unpredictable, today’s NBA best bets return to what built our bankroll: player proposition bets.

Bulls vs. Celtics Prediction: Nikola Vucevic Over 10.5 Rebounds (-110 on DraftKings) *Bet of the Night

When all is not well, it is time to return to The Well. That is Nikola Vucevic of the Chicago Bulls, who has been very kind to our bankroll. We have stayed away from him over his past couple of games but it is now time to return to a wager that has been profitable.

The Chicago Bulls are red hot after taking down the Denver Nuggets, and now play at TD Garden against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics are not playing their best basketball and have lost five of their last ten matches. This is a game in which Vucevic could expose a weaker front court.

Vucevic has covered this line just once in his last four games, but should return to more of a rebounding center, now that he is not playing Nikola Jokic. He is averaging 32.4 minutes per game, and the line is set just over his average, 10.3.

Boston is a bottom six team in rebounding, allowing 53.4 per game to opposing teams. Vucevic should earn eleven or more rebounds, and the Bulls could push the Celtics in what could be another upset. Put a unit on Vucevic to deliver once again, and dominate a weaker front court.

Raptors vs. Wizards Prediction: Scottie Barnes Over 8.5 Rebounds (-120 on Bet365)

Scottie Barnes has been his usual self, but the Toronto Raptors are enjoying their best success of the season. They have won four in a row and six of their last ten games, the first time above .500 in a ten game stretch this season.

Barnes has a double double in four of his last five games, and Fantasy Alarm successfully cashed a +145 double double in his last match. Now the double-double odds are set at -125, hardly worth chasing, particularly when the rebounding line is at better odds with less of a requirement.

Granted the sportsbooks are just as aware as the Betting Bungalow that the Washington Wizards allow the most rebounds per game in the Association, 57.3. Washington also allows the most points per game in the Association, with 122.3. They are also on a fourteen game losing streak, and are the worst franchise of the decade.

Barnes and the Raptors have an opportunity to keep the momentum going. With Barnes that could mean a triple double, but for Fantasy Alarm we just need nine or more rebounds. Put a unit on him to do just that, earn nine or more rebounds against the worst rebounding team in the Association.

NBA Player Props & Other Picks Today, 1/29

As great as The Well, Nikola Vucevic, has been, a newly discovered spring is flowing like an avalanche coming down a mountain.

And Fantasy Alarm is taking every ounce from it we can, including a double unit in tonight’s NBA best bets.

Nuggets vs. Knicks Prediction: Christian Braun Over 12.5 Points (-105 on DraftKings) *2.0 U

Christian Braun is Fantasy Alarm’s Fast Break Kid, The Snowplow Slammer, and a profit-making machine! He has single handedly kept the units around twenty for this column, and we are betting on him again. Braun is a player the sportsbooks have not caught up on.

We successfully predicted an eight-point teased up performance in his most recent match, and Christian Braun’s involvement with the Nuggets remains high. The starting scoring guard is almost unknown outside of Colorado and Kansas, but he has won a championship at every level of his basketball career. He was inserted into the starting lineup with the loss of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the offseason, and Braun has rewarded the Denver Nuggets with excellent offense.

Over the past six games his point line has moved from 10.5, to 11.5, and now is at 12.5 at almost even odds. Make the sportsbooks pay with a double unit wager too. From the beginning of the game Braun is flashing down the court and ready to slam it down the basket.

Tonight the Nuggets play the New York Knicks who have allowed 110.8 points per game this season, and Denver should easily score more than that. Look for Braun to be a major part of the offense, possibly scoring over 20 points for the sixth time in nine games. Put two units on the Fast Break Kid.
