Welcome to the 2016 Fantasy Football Living Draft Guide from Fantasy Alarm!
We here at Fantasy Alarm do things a little differently. I am probably the one to blame for this. You see, I was never one to draw in between the lines. I am the kind of person who questions why the lines are there in the first place. I mean, why am I coloring a duck when I really want to be coloring a dog?
What does this have to do with fantasy football? I am getting to that.
When I say the words “Fantasy Football Draft Guide” what comes to your mind? A magazine that you buy at your local grocery story or Barnes & Noble? If you are over the age of thirty that is exactly what you think of. If you are in your twenties maybe you think of a draft guide as something that you have online access to as well. Perhaps a PDF download in addition to a hard copy of a book or magazine.
I’ve spent the last decade of my life writing fantasy football draft guides. It’s something that I really love doing actually. Putting in all of that research and hard work, then being able to casually take the family to the store and happen upon my magazine on the newsstand. It’s a time honored tradition in my household actually.
But as Bob Dylan once sang, “the times they are a changing.” I often complain about the fantasy sports industry clinging to its past so hard they seldom see the world out in front. So, what would I be if I saw a major flaw in the draft guides of the past and failed to do anything about it?
I would be a coward, that's what. Or, if you're potty mouth like me, a much dirtier word. But since this is somewhat of a family website I will refrain from expanding on that.
The problem with all of the draft guides you see in the stores, or even online these days, is that they are packed with out of date material. Let’s face it, those rankings and articles are written in May and published in June. Here you are reading this in late August and wondering why Rolando McClain is still ranked in the top 30 of the LB rankings. Or why the receiver that just tore his ACL is still referenced as a sleeper in the meat of the guide.
The fact is that this is an archaic way of providing fantasy football content. Most of you are reading this from your tablet or phone right now anyways. When was the last time you carried around a magazine that didn’t involve you taking a dump? Exactly my point.
So, we flipped the script. There is no more Fantasy Alarm Fantasy Football Draft Guide in magazine form this year. Instead we are keeping all of the rankings and content fresh throughout the summer. You are going to get the same great information and in-depth analysis but there is a zero percent risk of it going stale. Why? Because we are updating it all summer long right up until the start of the 2016 NFL regular season.
This allows us to provide so much more content that will all be available to you on-the-go or wherever you need us. Instead of 300 players being ranked in June, you’re getting 500+ players constantly monitored and updated. Instead of one pre training camp mock draft you are getting new and updated throughout the draft months.
Perhaps the best news of all is that you are getting the ability to choose which pieces of the draft guide you actually want. Do you want forty pages of every NFL head coach, offensive and defensive coordinator broken down into system, tendencies and player fit? Great because we got it for you. Are you looking for just a quick-hitting list of which players signed where in free agency? We have that too. You get to select from all of our content which articles, rankings, features and tools that you want and don’t want to form your own personal draft guide. It’s a modern solution for a modern age and we are the only ones doing it this way.
