MLB DFS Value Pitchers

Jordan Montgomery (STL); DraftKings - $8,400; FanDuel - $9,100; Yahoo - $45

Did I miss something? I am trying to figure out what happened here as Montgomery’s price has dropped by $800 since his last two starts. Yes, the Brewers do have a solid offense but based on how the left-hander has been pitching as of late I am not sure that it matters. Over his last five starts, Montgomery has allowed a total of seven earned runs with five of those runs coming in the same outing as he continues to dominate in St. Louis. Montgomery’s ERA for the season sits at 3.08 to go along with a WHIP of 1.04 and it is hard to argue with those results.

 

Ken Waldichuk (OAK); DraftKings - $6,200; FanDuel - $7,600; Yahoo - $30

The left-hander is slated to make the third start of his major league career tonight against Texas after allowing four earned runs over 10 innings to this point. Despite throwing first pitch strikes to 14 of 20 batters in his last start against Atlanta, Waldichuk did allow three runs via two home runs; one in the fifth inning and one in the sixth. Over the past two seasons, the southpaw really began to emerge and has consistently struck out double digit batters per nine innings. That works from the upside department and he is worth a look as there is no one else within his salary tier with the same talent or upside. 

 

 

 

MLB DFS Value Hitters

Gio Urshela 3B, (MIN); DraftKings - $2,700; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $12

Urshela is in the midst of a modest five game hitting streak and he gets a favorable matchup tonight against Kris Bubic and his 5.40 ERA. With 11 home runs and 53 RBI there is not much here that truly jumps off the page, but with a solid .267 batting average we are getting a discount on the middle of the order hitter and targeting Bubic could be a viable, and cost-effective option. 

 

Josh Jung 3B, (TEX); DraftKings - $2,000; FanDuel - $2,100; Yahoo - $18

I know that I did target Waldichuk above, but Jung’s price is simply too good to miss. He went deep in his major league debut and then Jung followed that up with another home run last night. That gave the rookie hits in four his first five major league games after a strong pedigree of success and he also brings the platoon advantage into tonight. 

 

Dermis Garcia 1B (OAK); DraftKings - $2,400; FanDuel - $2,400; Yahoo - $9

Garcia figures to start in the middle of the order tonight for Oakland with the platoon advantage tonight against Cole Ragans. After hitting 31 home runs last season in Double-A last year for the Yankees, it is clear that Garcia brings some power to the table and that continued with 13 home runs and 44 RBI over 68 games in Triple-A this year for Oakland. Since his promotion to the big leagues, Garcia has two home runs and eight RBI in 55 plate appearances while batting .271 and he gives us cheap exposure to run production and a potential long ball tonight.

 

Corey Dickerson, OF (STL); DraftKings - $2,800; FanDuel - $2,500; Yahoo - $16

Dickerson figures to be right back in the middle of the order tonight with St. Louis and the veteran outfielder continues to find success. Over his last 10 games, Dickerson is hitting .343 with six RBI and while he likely will only face Matt Bush once tonight, I would expect him to mostly face right-handed pitching tonight against whom he is hitting .309 with all five of his home runs and all 30 of his RBI which puts him in another favorable position tonight.
