Manny Machado MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Higher Than 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI

In the first half of the year, Manny Machado was fine. He was OK. He was productive. His season took off in the second half of the year, and he tormented opposing pitching. He was one of the primary catalysts in the Padres' second-half surge and has a great opportunity to help his team past the division-winning Dodgers in Game 5 of the National League Division Series. Machado has hammered baseballs against righties since the All-Star break posting a .288 AVG, .537 SLG%, .249 ISO, and .366 wOBA. 

The Dodgers have elected to go with Yoshinobu Yamamoto today and he has struggled against right-handed hitters since returning from the IL. Righties have a .250 ISO (.274 xISO) and .397 wOBA against him. Small sample, sure, but a sample we can look at nevertheless. The power against righties has been an issue all year as he’s allowed a .190 ISO to righties throughout his entire campaign. Machado is one of the top Underdog MLB Picks of the day.
 

 

 

 

Tommy Edman MLB Underdog Fantasy Pick: Less Than 6.0 Fantasy Points

I think Tommy Edman is an excellent baseball player who does a lot of good things, but one thing he doesn’t do well is hit right-handed pitching. He’s hitting .412 on the year against lefties but just .181 against righties. 

As a switch-hitter against Yu Darvish, he’ll be hitting from the left side in this game and that bodes well for scoring less than six fantasy points, which is why this is one of my favorite Underdog MLB Picks of the day. Left-handed hitters are batting just .222 against Padres starter Yu Darvish this year and we know after Darvish is a bullpen full of DAWGS. Edman is scoring less than six fantasy points.
